Madi (maadee91) | 15 comments I read this book in the early 2000's. I believe it was fairly new then, and maybe the first in a series. I read it as a middle schooler, but it was my mom's book and I remember being aware that it was an adult book. It was a science fiction book about a group of "siblings" (perhaps they identified as siblings, but weren't actually) who were imprisoned in some sort of lab and were able to escape, and maybe live in a home at the end of the book. They all had wings as the result of some sort of scientific experiment. I believe that one of the characters was named "Ziggy" or "Izzy" or something along those lines. I also think that maybe there was a romantic relationship between two of them. One ended up being pregnant and giving birth secretly.

I don't remember anything about the cover, but I think it was hard-backed at the time.

Thank you!

MJ | 1610 comments James Patterson, The Lake House is the one you're looking for I think. It is the original version of Max and crew... this one is a solo book from memory, and finishes in a house.

Maximum Ride is the second version which is the start of the PG series. Same characters... which confused the hell out of me, because I didn't realize it was an alternate story line.

Neither did I... You can imagine my confusion! Plus, I didn't realize JP did children's book - his books really don't leave you thinking that would be an option. Then Max and co are doing stuff or not doing stuff that doesn't match the other storyline. Sadly, it really did take me too long to figure it out

Madi (maadee91) | 15 comments This is it! I'm not sure which of the series it was... as I said, I think they were adult books, so it sounds like it was probably "When the Wind Blows & The Lake House". Now that I think about it, I may have read both of them... Thanks so much!
