Dan | 1529 comments Please nominate up to two weird fiction works for the next poll (these run mid-month) that you think the entire group will enjoy. There are no restrictions regarding format (short story, novel, periodical, graphic novel, etc.), time period (weird fiction wasn't really around much before 1923, but proto-weird, which we have read a little of, was), or difficulty of acquisition.

We differ from most other groups in respect to being so open about what we will read in terms of format for a group read. Where we are not so open is in that we only consider works for the poll that are arguably and demonstratively in the weird fiction speculative genre. Some people don't realize how defined the genre is and think any story with a strange character, or any satire or farce, qualifies. Or even worse, that weird fiction is comedic! I should also mention that many members (me especially) look for the work that is not nominated and reviewed by six or ten other GoodReads groups already. We like to be unique and learn something new!

I've read and enjoyed the graphic novel version, which was also written by the author. Discussion here: /topic/show/.... But not the novel. Might be interesting. Thanks for the nomination.
