Elijah Z. (elijah6734) | 92 comments There's a book called The Sleepwalkers written by Christopher Clark

Christopher Clark is also the author of "Iron Kingdom." I highly recommend him.

Also John Keegan's book on WW1 is a great overview of the war/its causes :) I'd start with his book and then read Barbara Tuchman's Guns of August (or really just read her trilogy).

Ellie Ann | 28 comments One book I can definitely recommend from ww1 is Rilla of Ingleside, the last Anne of Green Gables book. It’s about the Canadian home front, and it’s sooooo good!🥲😭🥹😍

Yes, I meant to rec that one here, and that was, in fact, the reason I just got on this thread lol. I LOVE it sooo much. And I'm actually currently rereading it. Well, it's on pause at the moment, thanks to library books, but you get the idea, It's actually my fav in the series

Ellie Ann | 28 comments Aw that’s annoying Bella. But yeah it’s sooo good!!!🥰 I think it’s my favorite in the series too but I’m not sure lol

@Bets, if you do, also check out the first volume of Tuchman’s trilogy, The Proud Tower. That book gives you the necessary context for understanding WW1, I.e., it discusses some key events leading up to the war.

AND, feel free to dm me if you’d like to read it with someone 😊

It's fine. I'm happy to see that someone else loves it. :) My second fav is Anne of the Island, and then the first one is prob my third.

Naomi McCullough | 88 comments Rilla of Ingleside is my favorite WW1 fiction book! I also liked the boys series "Biggles" by Captain W. Johns. He was a pilot during that war and his first-hand experience made the flights of his character much more fleshed out.

BooksNCrannies (booksncranniesofficial) | 548 comments Yours is the Night would be a good WWI read. The plot is a little slow; hardly any violence. This book has great themes about God's love and faithfulness. There is some minor sexual content, tho; but nothing inappropriate for 16+.
