I just reread Pippi Longstocking or Pippi Långstrump which is her Swedish name. It was so interesting to read it as an adult and to myself, not to children! I wish you a pleasant reread (ʘᴗʘ✿)

I'll take on another love from childhood - the Famous Five (ʘᴗʘ✿)

Lynn (lynnsreads) | 155 comments Antiques Road Show (June 2024 Challenge)
1/6/24 - 30/6/24
2/2

1 Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen (1811) June 23,2024 4*
2 The Overcoat by Nikolai Gogol (1842) June 29. 2024 5*

These are both texts that I have read before. It was my third read for both.

1 Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen 2 The Overcoat by Nikolai Gogol

Planning - Possible books
It is likely I will read Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen (1811) 409 pages . I first read this as an assignment in High School. I really did not understand it. The sections of Austen's writing that were intended to be humorous were confusing to me. I thought that it was so long ago they simply had strange habits?

Perhaps I will read Pollyanna by Eleanor H. Porter (1913) 304 pages. My mother had a collection of perhaps 50 hard back books that were printed in the 1940s and early 1950s. They were meant for girls. She had many of the Pollyanna series. I have all her books and read Pollyanna about 20 years ago.

Nike | 249 comments For once I've finished in good time. And Wow! - my first reread of Enid Blyton as an adult and I loved it! I read the first book about the Five and it's really good! I'll continue reading them (or listening to them) and I will certainly reread my favourites by Enid Blyton which were the Secret Seven. This is hilarious! Thank goodness I'm old enough to reread children's stories (✷‿✷)(ʘᴗʘ✿)(◕ᴗ◕✿)(☆▽☆)

Kathy E | 135 comments I finished. See message 5. The best book was Pippi Longstocking. I think I liked it even better than when I was a child.

Tr1sha | 302 comments That’s lovely, Kathy. Reading a favourite book again is always a risk - will it still be a favourite or will it be a huge disappointment? I’m so pleased you enjoyed it.
