I'm trying to update Japanese author names and the system is automatically updatings ナガ� to ナカ�. These are two different names. Does anyone know why this is happening?

I've already answered in the previous question :) This is how Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ works. You cannot change similiar names on edit book page. If you want to create a new author profile, you need to add to book something like "ナガãƒ�123", then edit this author to "ナガãƒ�".
