@Lauren: the rule is to pick the number of books they've nominated plus one.

For example, for me (I've asked for 3), you'll have to pick 4 books whilst Lahni asked for 1, so you'll have to pick 2 books.

Hope that makes sense...

message 13: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1217 comments Oops. Sorry. I'll pick more :0)

Aw, y'all are welcome. For such a reluctant player, I am now eager to start.

Actually, although I looking forward to Dee's selections, y'all have managed to pick two books that I just got out of the library the other day: Eleanor & Park and Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet. Both are for Pursuit (duplicate slices - no credit), so I am very tempted to make them my POTS reads.

Anyway, Dee will have her selections up today, and then we can start!

Bea | 5265 comments Mod
Thanks, Dee. Wow! Are you doing another triathalon this year?

message 17: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 2689 comments yeah a couple - first one is in 3 weeks and i'm soo not ready for it...

message 18: by Bea (new)

Bea | 5265 comments Mod
All of our team has picked so we can start reading anytime. I will start with Eleanor & Park.

message 19: by Charity (new)

Charity | 577 comments I am going to start with Small Favor. I will probably follow-up with Jane Eyre since both of these help out my Reader's Pursuit challenge.

message 20: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 2689 comments i'm probably going to start with Bea's recommendation of Temptation in a Kilt because I have that slotted into another challenge already; as well as Charity's picks of The Proposal and Stealing Home that I also have slotted into challenges - hopefully will fit in another 1 or 2

message 21: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 2689 comments so i read Stealing Home over the weekend - it was a cute romance

currently reading Temptation in a Kilt (Bea) and By Design (Lauren/Charity)

Bea | 5265 comments Mod
I should finish my first book in a couple of days, so I am already planning to start Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet as my second book.

message 23: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1217 comments I finished Primal Law (Alpha Pack #1) by J.D. Tyler the other day and was disappointed. It contains every PNR trope known to man and they aren't presented particularly well at that. I later learned that the author also wrote another series (under another name) that I wasn't a fan of. I don't think I'll be reading any more of her books.

I have finished both my books: Eleanor & Park and Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet.

I gave Eleanor & Park 3*. It is a lovely story of teen love, but I think I am too old to identify with that age.

I gave Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet 4*. I read most of this book in one day. Love the sexy Son of Satan; and I identify some with Charley. Fun read.

message 25: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1217 comments I've finished two more books (doing better this round).

Grave Sight (Harper Connelly, #1) by Charlaine Harris - 4 stars. I've become hooked on Charlaine Harris's cozy mysteries. I really like the way she draws her characters.

Forbidden Magic (Magic, #1) by Cheyenne McCray - 2 stars. Underdeveloped plot, mediocre romance and stereotypical depictions of magic. Not reading any more in the series.

Looks like Lauren and I have met our POTs goals. How are the rest of you doing?

message 27: by Tien (new)

Tien (tiensblurb) | 9028 comments Mod
Gah! I'm so behind with my review books, I'm not sure when I'll get to this :(

April was slooooow reading month for me (Easter followed by 2 weeks school holidays made it too busy for me to read). I'm hoping for a better May.

Well done, Lauren & Bea, for reading your POTS nice and early!

message 28: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 2689 comments I finished up By Design - disappointed because the heroine was such a doormat - i spent the whole book mentally screaming at her

also finished Temptation in a Kilt - enjoyed this one more than the first book I read by the author - i'm split on continuing or not - so i'll probably read one more to decide

Dee wrote: "also finished Temptation in a Kilt"

That title sounded soooo good - and I don't generally like Romance. Or maybe it was the cover that I liked. {evil smile)

BTW, Dee, that makes your three books. Congrats!

message 30: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 2689 comments i've got 2 more i'm going to try and read that fit for SRC - so those are next - Quid Pro Quo (the sci-fi task) and Nothing To Lose (the fifty pointer)

message 31: by Lahni (last edited May 05, 2015 07:51AM) (new)

Lahni | 660 comments Ugh I got bogged down with an audiobook that I wanted to finish because it's been a goal of mine go years but took a sheer act of will each time I listened. I FINALLY finished it. I have a couple of other audibooks I've been on the holds list for that I have to finish before they are due back in the next few days. The good news and the bad news is we finally are under contract for selling our house and will hopefully be putting an offer on the one we like tomorrow. This means this month I get to pack up and move. My husband is living and working out of town until the end of the month and only a couple of my 7 kids are old enough to really be helpful. Oh and I'll be gone for 5 days to go see my oldest graduate from his arts high school in MI. So while I'll have lots of time to listen to audiobooks while I pack, I don't think I'll have much time for any actual reading. I'll take one to MI though so I should be able to meet my goal. I just have to see which from my choices is available.

message 32: by Charity (last edited May 05, 2015 09:43AM) (new)

Charity | 577 comments I finished Small Favor. I really enjoyed it and look forward to some day reading more in that series (I read the 1st one and chose this as part of Reader's Pursuit). Thanks Lauren for the pick! On to Jane Eyre I hope I get this done by the end of May!

message 33: by Lahni (new)

Lahni | 660 comments I'm going to listen to A Great and Terrible Beauty because it fits the Gothic shelf too.

Tien (tiensblurb) | 9028 comments Mod
so, I was being totally ambitious wanting to read 3!

I have, however, just finished on (Blameless). So far, I've really loved book 1, book 2 ended in a sort of *gasp, I can't believe that just happened* and this book is #3... was really looking forward to the resolution of the ending of book 2 but a little bit disappointed -I think because it took til the end to book 3 so all the tension that was built kinda died down and it felt anticlimactic so it was just 'meh' :|

sorry, Dee! I do have book 4 so I will continue it one day but not in a rush...

and... I am trying to pick up the second book for POTS (been carrying it around today but haven't had a chance to crack it open yet)

message 35: by Lahni (new)

Lahni | 660 comments I did end up finishing A Great and Terrible Beauty. I really liked it. I had hoped to maybe squeeze in one more but with the move coming up in a week I don't think its going to happen.
