So let us know what you've read and what you would like to read. Happy Reading.

Amanda Dawn | 1660 comments Very easy pick for me this time: City Sister Silver is the only one I haven't read, so going to vote early and toss my 5 votes there.

Safe travels Kristel.

This is an average lot for me, 24 being read. I only have one on my TBR shelves:

The Christmas Oratorio (Tunström)

I'll wait and see where the interest is directed.

message 5: by Jane (new)

Jane | 308 comments The Ogre sounds fascinating but is it available in English?

I'm thinking about spliting my votes between a few to get them into the randomizer: Cane, The Story of Lucy Gault, The Killer Inside Me.

message 6: by Pip (new)

Pip | 1822 comments I THINK I have read 20. Don’t have any others on my shelf. I am travelling with little internet access so won’t vote unless I get back to civilisation in time!

message 7: by Pamela (new)

Pamela (bibliohound) | 547 comments I have only read 8 of these, so there’s a good chance one I haven’t read will come up. So this month I think I will just pick one I own for my free vote - maybe Petals of Blood.

message 8: by Gail (new)

Gail (gailifer) | 2095 comments I have read 19 of these. I would live to read another Turgenev - either King Lear or On the Eve. However, I have not read City Sister Silver, Christmas Oratorio, the Killer Inside Me or the Story of Lucy Gault. I have read Petals of Blood. I will probably vote for Turgenev for the Randomizer

I have read 21 of these.
The ones I have access to and am willing to put my votes toward are Cane - Toomer
The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists - Tressell
Torrents of Spring - Tugennev
The Story of Lucy Gault - Trevor
Felicia's Journey - Trevor
The Home and the World - Tagore
Heather Blazing - Toibin

If no one wants to go with any of these, I will feed the randomizer.

message 10: by Pamela (new)

Pamela (bibliohound) | 547 comments Ah, I see a few people have mentioned The Story of Lucy Gault and I have a copy of that too, so I think I’ll go for that one.

message 11: by Jane (new)

Jane | 308 comments I can get behind Lucy Gault.

I leave on my little trip tomorrow morning. Two people have voted. I will try my best to keep up with everything while on the road but can't promise it will be seamless. I will only taking my I pad with me and it isn't as easy to work on but I think I have it set up. I'll be back home late on the 28th.

The winners are
Popular vote: The Story of Lucy Gault by 1 vote
Randomized: Hobbit picked by Nike.

What will you be reading?
I bet Amanda will be opting for a buddy read.

message 14: by Pamela (new)

Pamela (bibliohound) | 547 comments I will be reading The Story of Lucy Gault as I’ve read The Hobbit many times.

message 15: by Patrick (new)

Patrick Robitaille | 1539 comments Mod
Read both and also read City Sister Silver, so no possible buddy read for me. I'll probably focus on randomized reads, provided I am done with Joseph (still 300 pages to go) and the last quarterly.

Kristel (kristelh) | 5011 comments Mod
Patrick, maybe someone would be interested in Christmas Oratoria

message 17: by Pip (new)

Pip | 1822 comments I’ll read Lucy Gault but will probably give The Hobbit a miss. I really want to finish the Annual Read so will give it a miss

message 18: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Dawn | 1660 comments Lol yes I will opt for the buddy read if anyone is interested. Anyone have interest/time to fit in city sister silver?

message 19: by Jenna (last edited Sep 24, 2024 02:23PM) (new)

Jenna | 135 comments I didnt realize there was lobbying :) Next time!

message 20: by Gail (new)

Gail (gailifer) | 2095 comments I have read neither so will be aiming to read both. I will also sign up for City Sister or Christmas Oratorio buddy read. That means I need to catch up with the annual read in October.

message 21: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Dawn | 1660 comments Cool, I will do City Sister Silver for the buddy read then.

I'll host a buddy read for the Christmas Oratorio then. At my current reading speed, I'll probably need 10-12 days at the beginning of the month before I can post questions; it is a chunky book (my French edition runs at 500 pages).

message 23: by Rosemary (new)

Rosemary | 662 comments I just ordered a copy of The Christmas Oratorio, so I will aim to join in with that buddy read. I've read the others.

message 24: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Dawn | 1660 comments Hope this is okay (mostly for Gail since I don't know if anyone else is interested lol): but I'd like to back out of hosting the buddy read for city sister silver.

I've been doing okay overall, but have only been living independently again for less than 2 months now after surviving sepsis in May (do NOT recommend as an experience lol), and have been taking a break from keeping up with reviews so I don't feel overwhelmed. Thought I'd be good for November, but think a longer break with be good idea.

Also Openlibrary has been down for weeks (booooo), and that's where I get most of my remaining list books since I can't physically go to libraries easily and do not have extra funds to buy ebooks right now. Hopefully it will go back up, but likely will be more limited in list books until staying with my family in December (I ran out of 1001 audiobooks earlier this year so have been listening to booker and giller prize nominees instead this month :) )

Wow! Since I don't get any mails from ŷ any longer I haven't noticed this until now! It's a month ago.

message 27: by Gail (new)

Gail (gailifer) | 2095 comments Amanda, I hope you feel better. It is so important to take care of your health. I hope we can read City Sister Silver together some other time.

message 28: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Dawn | 1660 comments Thanks for the kind responses everyone, for some reason I didn't get a notification for this thread.

And yes, I'd love to do Sister City Silver together another time too <3
