A Restless Truth - The one with the parrot! Which isn't actually in the book very much, alas. I liked the shipboard closed-circle aspect of this one better than the totally open first one, but it's still not exactly a mystery. (I will say that I read the first 50-ish pages and then woke up the next morning knowing where the magical artefact was hidden.) The author also likes to throw in too many climactic protagonists-in-danger moments. I will probably read the last one because the author dangled enough unanswered questions at me, but I'm not excited about it.
QOTW: I can't think of one offhand. I don't buy books unless I plan to read them immediately. I guess maybe my reluctance to spend money on a purchase or inter-library loan is a bad habit.

Finished:
The Familiar by Leigh Bardugo - 3.5 stars - no prompt. It was okay, and it kept me engaged all the way through, but I was never really invested in the central romance.
The Apothecary Diaries (Light Novel): Volume 9 by Natsu Hyuuga - 4 stars - no prompt. Things are getting crazy.
Comics/manga:
Rainbow Days 12
Currently reading:
Jasmine Is Haunted by Mark Oshiro - no prompt. Looking forward to some fun middle grade for spooky season.
Upcoming/Planned:
The Wedding Witch by Erin Sterling - no prompt.
The City in Glass by Nghi Vo - no prompt.
QOTW:
I buy too many books. I also will preorder a physical copy of a book (usually from a favorite author to support them) but then wait to read a digital copy from the library because I don't want to lug a hardcover around and I've gotten spoiled by ebooks.
I've just finished The Book of Love by Kelly Link, and I'm not really sure how to describe it except that I absolutely loved it. A lot of the reviewers seemed to feel that it moved too slowly, which I can understand since it did take a while for the plot to get moving, but I was so fascinated by the characters that I didn't mind. I've always been a big character reader so this was definitely my kind of book. It's beautifully written and quite otherworldly.
I'm about to start A Ruse of Shadows, the latest Lady Sherlock book.
QotW: Except in the summer when I'm on vacation, I think my bad book habit is that I can have a hard time making myself get started on a book, even one that I'm certain I'll love. Sometimes it's easier to just turn my brain off and do something mindless. But once I'm involved in a book, I can't put it down.

finished:
Demon Copperhead - I really enjoyed this, it was well written and had a great audiobook narrator. It dragged in the middle a bit for me but was definitely worth reading nonetheless.
Heartstopper vol. 5- these are always cute and quick reads for me. I enjoyed this one like the others.
The Black Kids- this one focused on the Rodney King murder and riots, which happened when I was fairly young and not in touch with all that was going on then. So reading about them through the eyes of someone who was also a teenager then, but who lived in that place and was a part of the black community there was interesting and impactful.
The Romance Agenda- DNF. I started this because it was a demisexual romance book. While I appreciated that perspective, the absolute horrible communication between characters was just too much for me and I could not finish. I don't mind a little miscommunication in books, but when they are full grown adults acting completely idiotic for 10 years in their communication between 'best friends'...I just can't. You don't need a new romance, you need therapy.
Still listening to Somewhere Beyond the Sea and A Year of Biblical Womanhood.
Coming up I have Rogue Community College on preorder and We Solve Murders on hold at my library.
QOTW: Does it count as a bad book habit if I read instead of doing dishes? 😆 Actually, I sometimes get indecisive about what book mood I am in and then skip from one to another quickly without giving them a proper chance. I'll read less than a chapter and be like, no I don't think this is what I want right now.

Happy Friday. Hubby and I drove 8 hours today to visit my elderly mother. Her 95th birthday was several weeks ago, so we gave her a copy of We Solve Murders. She loved all The Thursday Murder Club books so we think she'll like this one too. I cannot wait to read this book soon too.
I have no finishes this week. I'm nearly done with Dark Tide: The Great Boston Molasses Flood of 1919. Neighborhood book club is next week and I'll have it finished for that. This was a better book than I was expecting, so that is good!
I'm still listening to North Woods. I had been discussing it as I went along with my middle (adult) child. Turns out she also recommended it to my youngest who also finished it, so now we're having 3-way conversations about it.
QOTW:
Do you have a "bad" book habit?
For however you might define that for yourself! For me, I have more books than I read. I still have at least 5 books I brought back from last fall's visit to my mom (books from my sisters). I have more books on my kindle than I can read. And my TBR list here on GR, it grows at a much faster rate than the finished list. So I guess I have higher aspirations than reality.
