Just started this morning

I am reading Curiosities by Anne Fleming and I'll be starting Death by a Thousand Cuts: Stories by Shashi Bhat as soon as I finish the first one.

I love Canadian Literature, and these are both nominated for the Giller Prize. I find this prize a good way to find and read more CanLit.

I have left these almost too long and they are due back at the library in 1 day and 3 days. So I'm going to have to be fast. Libby just takes them, I can't just pay fines and keep them a little longer!!

I lately have started to read many books at once. Currently, Crucible of Time by Jeffrey A. Carver;

The Grey Wolf by Louise Penney;

Surface Detail by Iain M. Banks;


and a few others.

I've been doing that because of groups, though I'd prefer not to. Currently Starplex and Continuum: French Science Fiction Short Stories but too many more are on the priority pile.

Slow month so far—too many other things going on. But I did finish listening to Murder at the Royal Ruby by Nita Prose, 5/10. It was an OK story, but the characters were kind of one dimensional. And I read Heirs of the Blade by Adrian Tchaikovsky for our series read, 8.5/10, comments in our folder for the series discussion.

Witch Hat Atelier Kitchen 5 by Hiromi Satō

I've been in a bit of a reading slump but finally was able to start Heirs of the Blade and am about 1/3 through. I'm also reading The Song of Achilles in small chunks, it's my at-work reading book. Bedtime reading with the kids: continuing to work through The Renegades of Pern with my eighth grader, and Little Town on the Prairie with my fourth grader.

I finished reading Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. The novel was adapted into the first season of the Amazon show named Good Omens. It’s humorous take on the coming of the biblical Armageddon. I am reading Assassin's Quest by Robin Hobb. I am also reading All the Birds in the Sky by Charlie Jane Anders. I plan to read Wind and Truth (Book #5 of the Stormlight Archive) by Brandon Sanderson next. I also plan to read The Gathering Storm (Book # 12 of the Wheel of Time) by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson

Busy beaver, Gary!

I read The Lathe of Heaven by Ursula K. Le Guin, one of our November Books of the Month, 9/10. More comments in the topic thread for this BotM. I did decide it was a reread for me, even though I remembered very few details of the story from the first time I read it, which must have been many years ago.
I’m listening to Lisa Unger’s House of Crows serial, an Amazon original, and I finished part 3, Circling the Drain, 6.5/10. Kept my interest but I really don’t care much for any of the characters.
I also read The Reborn King by Michael R. Miller, book 1 of The Dragon’s Blade trilogy, 9/10. This introduces the cast of main and secondary characters and sets the stage for multiple subplots within the main story. The author weaves his world-building into the story, so no big info-dumps. The characters are complex, with strengths, flaws, and mixed motivations. Looking forward to book 2.
And I finished another Charlotte & Thomas Pitt historical mystery, Southampton Row by Anne Perry, 8.5/10. A solid mystery, a large dose of politics, & the usual backdrop of personal stories.

I'm impressed.

Decided I was in the mood for some light-hearted reads, so I read Uprooted by Naomi Novik, which I liked so much that I am now reading Spinning Silver by the same author.

Spinning Silver was one of my favorite reads of last year!

I have just started The Air War for our series read.

November has been a bit of a loss for me.
Dragon Age: Veilguard released on Oct 31. 120h in and I still haven't finished Act2. My reading time would be pretty much 0 if it wasn't for audiobooks and long commutes.

I also got suckered in to doing some rereads.

A coworker and I were discussing the Bobiverse books. There's a 5th ones out, and I read the initial 3 books long enough ago that details are muddy in my head. So many Bobs! So now I'm rereading (or listening in this case) them all so I can talk to him about them easier. I'm on the second one now For We Are Many

Which I should have finished by now, but I also tried to convince said coworker into reading the Murderbot series. I opened the first book to read that hook of a first paragraph and basically finished before going to sleep that night. I'll likely be starting the third this weekend. I'm finally giving in to a Murderbot Diaries reread.

Bah, I'm not supposed to be doing all these rereads.
