Snyder's excellent explanation of patterns is accompanied by Cotterill's hand-built, mixed-media, three-dimensional sets, which perfectly reflect and expand the author's text. I think this one has a good chance for a Caldecott mention.

I really enjoyed the story, but I am somewhat underwhelmed by the style of art. However, the illustrator does a great job of depicting the movement of the children on the playground swings.

So far, this is the book I like best from Jonker. It's a pleasant adventure with perfectly complementary illustrations in soft, muted colors by Matthew Cordell. On a few pages, the mouse is hiding, and children will have fun finding her in her hiding place. I do hope this book finds some Caldecott love.
