John Gibson | 13 comments I had amazing luck getting the title of my first lost book Manhattan Transfer by John E. Stith discovered for me--thanks Hank--so I want to try my chances again.

I am looking for title of a book about a disc shaped world where the gravity is weakest at the edges and gets progressively heavier the closer you get to the middle. I think the word "Gravity" is in the title, but I am not sure. I also do remember who the author was.

- The main characters are aliens that look similar to centipeds and they are helping humans recover a probe or something like that.
- The humans cannot go down onto the planet becaused they would be crushed by the gravity where the probe is located.
- The humans communicate with the aliens using a radio or some similar device.

The book could have been published in the 80's or earlier.

I really enjoyed re-reading (or listening) Manhattan Transfer and I hope to duplicate that experience if I can find this lost book.

Cheers,
John "That Cowboy Guy" Gibson
