Is there a book you'd like to buddy read? Make a request here, then set up a thread to discuss.

Jessie (Saffity) (saffity) | 40 comments Just got The Vanishing Bookstore by Helen Phifer in audio format and I'm trying to get through it before publication on the 7. Anyone have this one and interested in reading together?

Trisha | 1292 comments Theresa and I are reading

The Inheritance by Trisha Sakhlecha - starting tomorrow and reading over a few weeks

thread is here: /topic/show/...

Vicki Willis | 824 comments Does anybody have Harlan Coben's new one?
Nobody’s Fool (Detective Sami Kierce, #2) by Harlan Coben Nobody’s Fool
Love this author. It is a sequel to an earlier book. That I am not sure if I remember that well, actually.

message 5: by Kevin (new)

Kevin | 7 comments Hi Vicky. I have this one but I'm actually reading it just now. It's not actually a sequel in the sense of it being a continuation of the story from Fool Me Once, it's just a new story with the same Detectice, Sami Kierce

message 6: by Vicki Willis (new)

Vicki Willis | 824 comments Oh ok, Kevin! Good to know. I will watch for your review.

This is read now on netgalley if someone was hoping to grab it

Just came on to say this too, Trisha! I didn't request it because I haven't read the first one, but now I'm thinking about it.

message 10: by Vicki Willis (new)

Vicki Willis | 824 comments Kevin, is it ok as a stand alone?

message 11: by Kevin (new)

Kevin | 7 comments Yeah it definitely works as a standalone. It is not a continuation of the Fool Me Once storyline, just the same detective, so even if you haven't read Fool Me Once you should still go for it

message 12: by Kevin (new)

Kevin | 7 comments Quick question. I was really surprised to see that this was a Read Now on Netgalley as its not Read Now in the UK. In the UK, where I am (Scotland, specifically) Coben is one of the biggest, most popular writers on his generation. If you are not in the UK, how is Coben viewed in your country?

message 13: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 2680 comments Mod
I think he is a very well-known and popular author here (in the US) too. We get some surprisingly big names available through NG here. Every so often one of them will be read now for a short time. His book is only read now for 3 days.

I own quite a few of his books, I think at least 14, but I've never read any of them. He's an author where I recognize his name and his books always sound good, but somehow I never get to them. I own Fool Me Once and wish I had read it before this new one became available.

I found him randomly at the book on CD rental store (yes, we had a thing like that ) over 20 years ago (or maybe 30 years ago, I don't know). I have read everything he has ever written and he is an auto buy for me.
I have tried to get him on NetGalley before, but never got it until his last one. And now this one. So I am hoping I get them forever.

message 15: by Kevin (new)

Kevin | 7 comments We get lots of big authors on NG in the UK but I have never seen any of them on Read Now. You will occasionally get an email from Netgalley saying a major authors book is Read Now for the first 100 readers, but most Read Nows in the UK are smaller publishers trying to get their books in front of many people as possible

message 16: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 2680 comments Mod
We get a lot of those 'first 100 readers' as well and they seem to be gone in about 12 seconds. I think three days is a fairly long time for a popular author, but it was the same concept. We got an email informing us. It is back to being available for request again now.

LinaVer | 4 comments Hi everyone, I’m still new to Netgalley so I don’t get approved for much, but I just got my first publisher/author request, and I will read Under a Riviera Moon (feedback deadline April 12). If anyone’s reading it, let’s do it together? 🙂

message 38: by Vicki Willis (new)

Vicki Willis | 824 comments Welcome Linaver,
I don't have that one.

Kristie | 2680 comments Mod
Welcome, LinaVer. I don't have that one either.

I don't have any of your books either, Carl.

I actually don't have too many right now. I am planning to start Nobody’s Fool tomorrow and I have the buddy read of Parents Weekend coming up. That's all I have planned for this month.

I'm planning to read The Love Haters next month. I know there was previously some talk about a buddy read of this one. Does anyone else have it and want to buddy read?

I also have The Man Made of Smoke planned for April and It's a Love Story either the end of April or probably early May. If anyone is interested in buddy reading one of those let me know.

message 40: by Vicki Willis (last edited Mar 17, 2025 11:41AM) (new)

Vicki Willis | 824 comments I would be up for The Love Haters

I am also reading Nobody’s Fool right now. I started it yesterday.
Do you want to start a thread for it? I would love to hear what you think about Coben. I think this is your first one??

message 41: by Elyse (new)

Elyse (winesaboutbooks) | 1408 comments I just requested Love Haters. Still waiting on Man Made of Smoke. Got denied Parents Weekend. But I also have It's a Love Story!

Ahh, I just checked for It's a Love Story and The Love Haters, and I think they are not available to my area (Europe), as I cannot even see these titles on Netgalley. Too bad, because they sound really good. It will be interesting to see what you all think of them anyway. :)
