I don’t like either team but it’s the last game we have for 7 months so I’ll probably watch anyway.

...and then...spring! Hooray!

For me, it’s not just pitchers and catchers - as soon as the Big Game is over Speed Week starts, climaxed by the Daytona 500 the next Sunday - NASCAR will be back!

I respect that. Not my thing, but we all look for spring in our own ways. And besides, I live in NH--a couple of our highways come close to the NASCAR experience right on the road! Why watch when you can drive it! LQTM
I just visited NH - Dover - where my son lives. Took in a UNH hockey game. Hockey has some unique traditions and here's another one - throwing a fish on the ice after UNH scores their first goal.
And...I'll be in NH for the September NASCAR race as I have already booked my bus trip tickets. I can't wait!

Saw Nancy Kerrigan on the news last night - she is an alumni of the Boston skating that many of the victims in this week’s plane crash belonged to. When she was expressing her grief for the families, she was never identified but it clearly was her.
I wonder if Dick Buttons died of shock yesterday. I know he was 95 but the news might have given him a heart attack. How horrible and as a parent makes me think about putting my kids on planes and I do that multiple times a year.

They are still safer on the plane than driving to the airport. As a parent your reaction is a normal one, but we can't protect them all the time. We have to let them live their lives. My mom was the same way. She hated when I went to Toronto as she was always worried that I might fall onto the subway tracks and get run over.

Had that in the afternoon instead of my 2 PM coffee. With mini marshmallows of course

Regarding plane safety: my wife will never get on a plane. Her logic is that there’s never a breakdown lane at 30,000 feet. So any long trips we do together are by car or train.
Amtrak is a key part of the story of how we got together. Can’t remember if I’ve shared it here or not

I'm with your wife about planes. Haven't flown since 1974....was terrified as we landed in Seattle during a thunder & lightening storm. We travel by car although I did take Amtrak sleeper to Tacoma in 2012. Lovely trip. Would like to hear how you & your wife met!

Coffee must not keep you up at night. Mike can drink coffee late at night & still sleep like a baby. Unfortunately even decaf keeps me up all night so now I drink camomille tea.

I have a cup of coffe with dinner or shortly afterwards but then nothing after that. Since I test my blood sugers before bed I don't have it late.

I have trouble sleeping so I try really hard to only drink coffee in the morning. If I “need coffee in the afternoon, I take a nap. I’ve cut out coke products and drink more water. I still have problems sleeping unless I’m exhausted but I can’t blame caffeine anymore.

Huge trade in the NBA last night. Luca Doncic for Anthony Davis and, of course, some other players and draft picks involved as well. Not sure how this will affect the league. I just started watching a little again but only if I see that teams are willing to play defense.

I love that song but wouldn't classify as Rock. Haven't watched the Grammys in years so not sure what other category it fits.

The term rock really encompasses a whole lot of different styles. To be honest I don't think I have heard the song so I can't be sure how I would classify it either. However, The Beatles being The Beatles they are likely given some leeway as they were definitely a rock band when they started.

When I first met Mike he wasnt much of a Beatles fan. He was into "guitar gods": Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, etc which I also liked. The Beatles are still to this day my favorite and he's grown to appreciate their music especially the albums that came out after they quit touring.
I like very little music but even I know enough to think a) Beatles aren’t a current group therefore should be ineligible and b) what Beyoncé sings is not country. Probably doing this to increase ratings.

The Beatles song qualified as it in fact had never been released before. They used an old demo which was cleaned up and then had tracks added it to it in the studio. Since this was the first time the song had been released in any form it made the cut. What I disagree with is oldies stations that, because it is The Beatles, automatically add it to their rotation.

I thought Dallas was making a huge error in judgement - if they wanted to improve the defense, it doesn’t help to get rid of the best offensive player in the game. MVP caliber for another who may be HOF worthy, but is 31 (old by most NBA standards) for a 25 year old stud. Just might be what the Lakers need

Okay, Peggy, here it is. For those who have heard this before, feel free to skip.
Naturally it starts out involving a Minnesota sports team. January 1996, while walking back to my car after a Timberwolves game, I slip in the parking lot and break my left ankle - but didn’t know it was broken until the next day. Have surgery done, am out of work for 4 weeks. On Prodigy, the old internet service during the dial-up days, go on the general bulletin boards to just chat. A very nice lady in upstate NY answers, ask if like music from the 70’s. I answer yes, so we start discussing music there.
Which led to other topics. Which led to phone calls and long distance bills (cell phones were just starting to be introduced now) and finally we decide to meet face to face. So Deb and her son board an Amtrak train in Albany, NY to come out to the Twin Cities to meet this guy who she’s only exchanged photos, email and phone calls with. In FEBRUARY - in Minnesota remember. But…that week was awesome and we really hit if off being together. Saying goodbye was hard. But three months later, I flew out to NY to see her - and it got even better. We decided at this point we should be together- but who has to make the big move?
Well, it so happened at the time, I had a 6 month temporary job with the Minnesota Department of Health - so the choice was made for us. When the job ended, my son and I would come to NY. That was August 1997. We were married a little less than a year later, and still are happily so. And…the story concludes with this: at that time I had never been to the Baseball Hall of Fame and it was a lifetime dream. Guess where we spent our honeymoon? Cooperstown! Of course we did everything one does there, but that gesture to allow me to go to the HOF - not to mention traveling to Minnesota in February- shows that I am a very lucky guy to have this wonderful lady as my wife.

Not exactly romantic but also met my husband on the internet. Used a Jewish dating service site and he posted in Spanish and I answered in Spanish. Tons of calls pretty much every day, met a month later, and that was it. I took him to a Wrigley Field on a date. It was the last day of the 2004 season and Cubs had been eliminated from contention; however, this is me so you better know what you’re getting. To be fair, as an immigrant, baseball isn’t his first sport anyway- that would be futbol. It also explains why he chose the Yankees as his team. In El Salvador the only two teams one could watch were the Yankees and Dodgers. The Dodgers were out of the question because at the time many Salvadorans immigrated to the US and settled in Los Angeles and acted Mexican. So no Dodgers ditto Lakers. That’s also why he chose Patriots because he already chose Celtics over Lakers. Anyway, my husband sat through that game at Wrigley and here we are twenty years later. I’m just a little younger than the rest of you here ;) but twenty years is twenty years. Wish I could say I was doing something to mark the occasion but we have to pay private school tuition for the next five years so it might be awhile until we take a vacation anywhere. At least I have made it to Cooperstown twice.

I’m not much of a fan of either team, but I enjoy watching Saquon Barkley perform - not to mention the entertainment I get listening to my Giants fans friends whining about him going to Philly - so I’m going for the Eagles
