Carole, if you're on the app, check the messages under the little bell top right. If you're on the desktop/Web version, check under the bell and the envelope top right. Good luck!
I've just stated 'Little Fires Everywhere', I'm only a few chapters in, but so far, so good. I'm already intrigued as to why Izzy set fire to the house - no spoilers, it's in the first chapter. It's an easy read, and the writing flows smoothly. Ok, so let's see what is going on...

I just googled, and Shaker Heights is a real suburb of Cleveland. The houses are large and traditional, and they certainly look 'upscale,' as our American cousins would say. It's pretty close to what I have been imagining.

I loved Mia and pearl but developed a soft spot for Izzy along the way.
I'm about halfway through and still enjoying it. I wonder why the secrecy around the photo of Mia in the art gallery...?

I also thought as Mia and Pearl were so close, Mia would have been open about it instead of being secretive

Good luck with the sleep, Russ. It's so tough.

There may be SPOILERS AHEAD!
I finished the book a couple of days ago and have been mulling over how I felt about the resolution/ending....
I had been wondering how each character would respond once Mia's secret was revealed and each was true to form. Also the mix up over Lexie's a***tion was definitely on the cards, and therefore not surprising. However the leaving of the photographs was unexpected, but did it point too obviously to what the author wanted to say about the Richardson's? I still can't decide.
Overall, I enjoyed the story and characters, and gave the book a rounded up 4 stars.

I suppose the longer you leave it, the harder it becomes to talk about...
Izzy, sees in Mia, what is missing in her own family. Yet Pearl doesn't really appreciate her mother, until the end, when the selfishness and shallowness of the Richardsons has been exposed.

Yes, so true, I agree.
I feel like growing up I thought my friends parents were 'cooler' compared to my own.
Also, I wasnt really happy about the ending! I wish it was clearer and not so open to interpretation.
So true, I am currently reading another book where the MC is also embarassed/ashamed of his family. The grass is always greener...

For a genre I never really read I thoroughly enjoyed it. Like others have said I found the ending very abrupt and it felt like it came out of nowhere.
I really enjoyed the development of characters in the book though and the fact that all characters had their positives and negatives. My only gripe was that Izzy felt like a character on the sidelines somewhat, particularly at the end. I’d have liked to have had her be a bigger part of the story or more development of her at the end.
Over all a great read though.

I've had that happen to me too, Sue. Very frustrating!

The group read for February will be Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng. I actually have a copy of this one in my sitting room, so I will finally get to read it. I hope it's good....
