Starting this one today! I really enjoyed the first one and I'm looking forward to being back in this world and seeing what happens between Rune and Gideon.

Chapter 17

It really took me a minute to figure out what was happening at the beginning. I kind of forgot exactly how it ended for a minute haha. But we got there.

I'm curious to see where it goes from here. It seems Rune wanted to leave just as badly as Gideon wanted her to. She clearly had a plan to get out of there and away from her planned marriage. Now that she has scars it may be tricky for them to get off the boat. I'm really loving the tension that's happening between the two of them! They clearly are still interested in each other but we'll see who gives in first! (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 26
(view spoiler)[Ok well this curse sucks. Between the curse and Gideon's ex it's making Rune incredibly insecure which I'm not really loving in this story. I really enjoyed how confident and badass Rune was in the first book and I'm not really feeling that in this one. There's also less magic to this one so far which is kind of disappointing. I'm already 40% in almost and not much has happened.

We've spent quite a bit of time on this darn boat and I'm kind of over it. I'm hoping we move on from this soon and get more magic. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[So I unfortunately didn't make too many comments on this one as I went. It was interesting enough but I found it kind of fell flat. I was excited to read it after enjoying the first one so much I found the good portion of this one not overly exciting.

The last little bit I felt like everything happened all at once. It felt rushed. There was obviously no way Rune would die so I anticipated her coming back when she decided to sacrifice herself. I didn't anticipate Rune being sisters with Cressida. That was a fun little twist. We were getting so close to the end and when Rune was deciding to stay and fight alongside Gideon I honestly thought that was going to be the end haha.

Overall, I did enjoy the first book and the second was ok. I liked the magic and how Rune could create her own spells. I thought the way you needed blood and how it mattered who it was from to make certain spells work was interesting. Blood stole against their will or some offered made a difference. I enjoyed Gideon and Rune together. I thought it was a fun dynamic and I liked the banter. Glad I read the series but wanted more from the last book. (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 1-15
(view spoiler)[ God, I love forced proximity and fake marriage. I was a little lost at the beginning and I immediately went from finishing book 1 to this one so it wasn't like I forgot anything, the set up was just confusing. I'm sad to see Rune so sad over Alex but I'm glad to see that that has consequences. I feel like too often characters have these horribly traumatic things happen and there's very little impact on them. It's interesting seeing Gideon think she was in love with Alex and that it was all a lie with him. I really like this dynamic. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ So this curse is interesting, fucking hell Cressida. Also though Gideon you idiot. He was so focused on Abby when clearly the one suspiciously interested in Rune should have been the focus. Also he should have confided in her, would have made things a lot easier, but oh well. Chapters 30-39
(view spoiler)[ I had a feeling it was Rune, it just made sense, it's interesting to have Gideon know first and to have her not realize what that meant. I'm so glad they freed Aurelia and Meadow that was terrible. None of the sides are good, clearly they need a third option. (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 40-52
(view spoiler)[ Fucking hell, that's one for Rune to find out and fuck Gideon is thinking the wrong thing, she didn't betray you she got caught and freed you from your curse. This is not going well but I know they will turn it around somehow. (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 53-73
(view spoiler)[ Okay so wisdom is clearly Seraphina, the hints have been so obvious and I'm kind of annoyed Rune didn't put it together. Also I'm guessing that Rune is going to die and be resurrected using Cresida. I enjoyed learning Harrow's story but the overall plot is getting so predictable. Maybe I'm wrong but we will see. (view spoiler)[ Nope not wrong I also caught that Rune was a Sibil, I wish everything hadn't been so obviously foreshadowed. I really enjoyed it but the first book I didn't see any of the twists coming and I like that. This one felt like everything was so obvious and I was like Rune you are supposed to be smart why haven't you figured this out yet. Overall, a solid end to the series. The first one was definitely better, but I did quite enjoy this one. (hide spoiler)]
