The first time I've read this I understood how Dex felt. Now I think they really represent me ❤️
I always feel frustrated when they have the first customer and fucky it up. But I really love the fast developing, I just imagine the little caravan being filled little by little and I love it.
How do you feel about it?
Chapter 2
It seems I picked this book aye the perfect time. I love Dex going from town to town, but also their need for adventure.
And I love the ending of this second chapter, Dex so free, named, dancing, and suddenly... Mosscap! Hahah Best entry ever.

Anyways here are my highlights so far:-
Prologue:
really good opening line. The entire prologue not only immediately pulls in the reader to the world by presenting an interesting worldbuilding, but it also quickly establishes what the book is gonna be about plot-wise (the robot) but also one of the main themes (what is consciousness).
Chapter 1:
love the opening line lol. I used to relate, but now that I'm more in the countryside, I kinda miss the city. I rlly like Chambers' prose, she knows how to construct an image in your mind.
I'm tired too lol so Dex isn't alone in that.
I think it's cool how this book describes mechanical engineering as "a holy chant", cuz most of the time it feels like works in this genre see human creation as something "lesser than".
I'm actually quite curious abt how a tea monks job would work in real life.
I also get secondhand embarrassment when I read that passage, but I like that they don't give up. can't relate lol.
half the actions of Dexbeing motivated by their pride is making me lmao, feels very real.
I love the caravan, and this book made me wanna try to live in one someday in the future. not permanently but I just wanna experience it.
the line abt them hooking up with the herb farmer kinda surprised me for a second, but then I was just proud like Dex was my friend who was getting some lol.
Chapter 2:
great opening line again. establishes a)the amount of time that has passed, b)that dex has already been travelling for that time, c)and that they are already 100% settled into a routine.
I absolutely adore this line for some reason. "It was here that you'd find the resourcefulness of rot, the wholeness of fungi."
I'm glad o see representation for those of us who hang on to devices until they're beyond repair. I've had my phone for like, 5 years now, and I don't plan on getting a new one until I actually need one.
Dex being so thirsty for this hot dad is the most relatable thing abt them.
I also enjoy their adventuring across Panga, makes the world feel a little more real.
I like that they simultaneously acknowledge how lucky they are while also not denying the discontent they feel.
That's a beautiful way to describe a canopy of branches.
Nine minutes... sorry, can't relate. I need at least an hour in the shower lol. also, what is a spicy onion?
Chapter 3:
is a bloodsuck a mosquito or?
Dex is kinda mean and condescending to mosscap in this chapter lol.
Chapter 4:
Dex is being rlly stubborn , but it's line in with how prideful they are. Not what you'd normally think of a monk, but it's probably closer to reality.
I enjoy the convos they have. they manage to discuss in a way that doesn't make it feel like you're just attending an intro to philosophy college class but that you're listening to two real individuals talk.
Sorry if that was too long! I just like to highlight stuff that jumps out at me, so don't feal obligated to read thru all of it lol

I don't know how a robot can be so happy and carefree, but I just love him.
Chapter 4
Though philosophical, I liked this chapter too. If just people were so open minded as these two, the world would be far better than it is now.
I think that's what I love about this book, that humanity here has some sense inside, is kind and open minded.
It's terrible how much I love this book. It's impossible for me to say anything bad about this book ;v;
I like reading long comments, so please keep doing that!
I've read chapters 5 and 6 too but hadn't the time to write about them. I hope to finish Psalm today so I can start the second one tomorrow... I'm so hyped!

Oh, we finally have that important passage! I read and reread it to understand everything. I love this worldbuilding :)
Chapter 1
It was a normal chapter, but it's funny how Mosscap sees human constructs and arrangements for the first time. Guess what it will say about the city!
Chapter 2
I loved when Dex remembered the time when they started to make tea. It was beautiful and not repetitive after reading the first book.
I love how cods work here. I thought there were like money, not to interchange services. I would love to live in that planet, I love the worldbuilding.
