Please only join this topic if you're comfortable with what's being discussed. We'll be talking about potentially triggering stuff involving self-harm. Please don't be too explicit in your discussions.

Thanks everyone and stay safe ❤️

Okay everyone, there's something called the Butterfly Project that's been going around to help SHing people and it's amazing. Whenever you feel like harming yourself, draw a butterfly on the skin you want to hurt. Any kind of butterfly, any colors. Your job is to keep that butterfly alive. If you hurt yourself, the butterfly dies. See how long you can keep it alive. If it dies, wash it off and start over. Create Butterfly Streaks for how long you can stay clean.

Some code words you can use when talking about SH are:

I killed my butterfly = I SHed. A private way to ask for help or discuss difficult stuff without saying it outright.

Keeping my butterfly alive = not harming. A way to assure your friends.

Butterfly Streak: how long you've kept your butterfly alive. Basically a clean streak but it sounds nicer.

In this chat, you can keep track of your Butterfly Streak, encourage others, celebrate streak milestones, and exchange advice.

Spread the word ❤️ 🦋

Mary Cools | 5 comments By all means, try the butterfly stuff but get some professional help. Seek mental health professionals who can teach you real coping mechanisms. I have generational PTSD and I can honestly say, there is hope for you. Professional help. NOW.

Not all of us have access to that, but yes. I'm going to a doctor next week.

Of course you can ask about it, that's what this chat is for. I'm sorry I don't have any advice, though. But stay safe
