I don't think it's just you! I thought Xander was a copy of Casteel from From Blood and Ash. I think Yarros is a good writer, or could be, but is she a product of the publishing industry? Does she genuinely not have faith in her own ideas to propel her stories? I don't know. I thought the first book was fun but if I read another book that ends with "Welcome to the revolution" I think I might scream.

I think it's that the vibes of the two series feel so different to me despite how much people compare the two because of the writing itself, so I find it hard for them to coexist in my head.

also for ACOTAR lovers I have something for you...
this is a ACOTAR based website

Onyx storm was a bit better, still not great tho it’s only because the other two books were that bad
I liked ACOTAR but I didn’t love it. it was fun to read, but had some plot points that I found took me out of the story it was trying to convey.
I find a lot of men in series like these -especially newer series- tend to be similar character wise. They are all tall, unnaturally handsome, sarcastic, misunderstood, etc
I never connected the powers that they both have. But now that it has been mentioned, I completely agree. They are very similar.
I started book two, Iron Flame , because the hype was unreal and I wanted to see what all the fuss was about But honestly... I’m not totally convinced by the story itself and what’s driving me a little nuts is that Xaden feels like a straight-up copy of Rhysand 🖤
Like?? From their looks to their powers , to how they both talk in their lovers heads —sometimes I’m even like, are they literally the same man?? 😳 They talk and act so similarly at times, it’s wild.
Is it just me?? Or did anyone else get that same vibe?? 😵 Let me know your thoughts if you’ve read both
