Kingjaron I read Powerless and I hated it. I found the characters to be annoying and the plot to be a rip off Hunger Games. It's advertised as an enemies to lovers but WHAT WAS ENEMIES ABOUT THIS? Kai was simping at first sight and they were both just forcing it. I thought Paedyn was a pick me and dramatic

what did you think about it?

Annie Gibson I personally enjoyed this book very much. When it got to the trials part, I was thinking about the Hunger Games. It made more sense when I realized that Lauren had written this book at 18, so I didn't see the point in criticizing it all that much. Also, I think that Reckless and Fearless did have a bit more originality.
So, did I like this book? Yes. Would I recommend it to my friends? Yes, and I already have. But is this book for everyone? No, and that's okay. But if you do like enemies-to-lovers (YA), then you should try it out.

Cillerxyxy i actually really liked reading the book. i have to admit that the plot itself wasnt that original - the hunger games in comparison are WAY BETTER. but i really liked the Mc, being strong even though she is a normal and the plot in the end. but personally i liked the second book „reckless way more, because idk, i think because there it was more focused on the romance and not trying to be a worse version of hunger games

Thank you, my thoughts exactly. Also, its a copy of Red Queen.

Rachel I enjoyed it at face value. It definitely reminded me of other YA books (hunger games and Red Queen to be specific), but what made me like them is also why I enjoyed Powerless for the most part.

I will say the trials were a let down. I was expecting to see them struggle more and it be more in the plot, so for them to basically go camping and rock climbing was a bit of a let down.

The repetitive inner monologue was the biggest hurdle for me to get over. Both Pay and Kai had the same thoughts and woes to themselves over and over and over and over again, at one point I thought I had accidently rewind my audiobook without realizing it.

I do think the "enemies to lovers" was a bit forced. It was more believable of them being enemies in the second book, but the first one just fell flat for me on the whole "enemies" part.

Was it world class literature? no. Did I still enjoy the storyline? yes! It was a quick and easy read.

Gauri Ranjan I HATE IT. I kept waiting for the “enemies part to kick in, but all I got was Kai drowning in her blue eyes every five minutes. The tension was nonexistent.I laughed more out of frustration than anything .And seriously—what was even the point of the trails ?

Hiba Nasir Honestly not a fan. On my first read it seemed great but on re reading it feels kind of annoying. I genuinely don't get the people who simp so hard for Kai. Literally all his dialogues are just these overly dramatic flirty lines. It was fine at first but eventually came to the point where i really started to dislike it. Please just talk like normal people. The only character i loved was Adena and she died. So yeah now im mad.

Christie Anderson I loved this book! There was not a dull moment in that story: I couldn’t put it down! Reckless and Fearless were also incredible. Each book is so intricate and powerful (no pun intended) and Fearless was a literal rollercoaster of plot twists. Reading that book was like I was being stabbed in the chest repeatedly by every single plot twist, but in the best way possible. They were definitely all 5-star reads and I highly recommend the whole series (and powerful, the novella, though I haven’t finished it yet 😂)

Ellie (SPOILERS FOR RECKLESS & FEARLESS) i think powerless was well written, compared to that Lauren was only 18 years old, when she wrote it. reckless took place outside of ilya, and i really liked that part causing paedyn and kai to bond so much and understand eachother. fearless was annoying. paedyns pov was so pick-me a like, she didnt have no mercy towards blair (she almost enjoyed torturing her before eventually killing her.) she also gets together with kai BEFORE HER FREAKING WEDDING WITH KITT! as this love is tragic, i think the best soloution was that they broke up - just ike juliette and aaron, causing them to grow emotinally.

miriam angela I loved powerless and the entire series but I think it was really weird how in fearless “SPOILER ALERT JUST IN CASE her and kitt got married and then they were step siblings like brother eugh

miriam angela Also I think the enemies to lovers was okay but I felt Kai was trying harder for Paedyn than she was for him because he was willing to run away with her but she got married to his brother and tried to I guess break up with him I just feel Paedyn was more enemies with Kai then he was with her so I didn’t like that that much

Rocks are not food Honestly I really enjoyed it. Everyone says that it’s a copy of red queen but I thought red queen was a copy of shadow and bone!?
Anyway like others have said reckless and fearless were WAY better and original but in terms of writing powerless isn’t bad!
