Emmy de Reus (nyneve) | 16150 comments Hi fellow-librarians,

Is there an easy way to find and separate an edition from an extensive work (1,920 editions)?

It is about this work:
/work/editio...

and this edition:
/book/show/2...

that needs separating and recombining with
/work/editio...

Renske | 12210 comments To find it easier, you can temporarily edit the title by adding something.

Emmy de Reus (nyneve) | 16150 comments Well, as a matter of fact the title already has something extra: "Cyrano (NHB Modern Plays)".

But is there no other way than searching through 192 pages?

P.S.:
It would have been handy if the librarian change log had an 'undo' option for a wrong 'combine' action (now there's only a 'flag' option...).
Or is that something that is technically not workable for some reason or other?

minzi | 289 comments If you go to the combine page (or to the separate tool page), you can use Crtl-F to search for "NHB" for example and find it pretty quick.

Arenda | 26392 comments In the case of adaptations that need to be separated, I always add a Librarian Note that it is an adaptation and should not be combined with the original book. Librarian Notes are visible on the combine page.

I have noticed that when separating an edition from large/popular works, using the 'separate' link after the specific edition on the combine page usually works better than the separate tool page.

Thank you! Found it...
but the separate command generates a 502 Bad Gateway...

You can change the number of editions to 100, at the bottom of the page, but that would still leave many pages to search in this case.

Emmy de Reus (nyneve) | 16150 comments I see that you did the separating for me, @Arenda... thanks.

I now combined it with the other editions by Virginia Gay.
