Kristina | 298 comments Acotar was my first fantasy book and made me fall in love with the genre, I never went back to anything else :) I think it’s a good series to start with. Maybe Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo, or Hollow Heathens by Nicole Fiorina 🙂

The cruel prince
Caraval
Once upon a broken heart
These books got me into fantasy and I think they are pretty easy to understand and read

A lot of the time fantasy books are interconnected series but if you’re new to the genre it’s better to start with short series (duology/trilogy). Fantasy books also pack a lot of information. There are also sub genres like epic, urban, historical, romantic it depends on which one you’re interested in trying

These are stories that take place in a modern world but have magical elements, so the world building is much easier. Ashley Poston does great magical realism; I recommend The Seven Year Slip.

Or even Harry Potter or Twilight!
