What do you think? We have some very noteworthy authors here, are any of these titles Caldecott worthy?

I already reviewed Red on my blog, and I LOVED it. I think Red is a wonderful story - maybe not Caldecott-worthy, but worth considering.

Absolutely loved Red. A testament to 'true self', it is simple, understated & the 'message' isn't too preachy. Perfect.

None of these are particular stand outs for me. Of the four, I enjoyed Red the most. There were some clever subtleties in the illustrations (the older crayons were shorter, the grandparents were gray and silver). I also appreciated that the message was not too heavy handed or preachy. Still, I would not expect any of these to be recognized as Caldecott winners.

Of these four, Red was my favorite, but probably not a Caldecott contender.

Red is my favorite out of the bunch as well. I do like When Otis Courted Mama for the divorced parent/new person in the child's life aspect.

I don't think any of these selections are close to being Caldecott worthy. Another upcoming book on Winnie the Pooh illustrated by Sophie Blackall does have a great shot at it.

I have had a chance to read When Otis Courted Mama, Red, and Winnie. Our library system has not purchased By Mouse and Frog yet.
I enjoyed all three books, but I think I agree with the other comments above; these books may be selected as "notable," but perhaps not Caldecott awards or honors.

Our library system finally received By Mouse and Frog. I loved the interaction between the mouse and frog; and have myself felt like the mouse many times. And I liked how the sketchy drawings resolved into a lovely painting at the end. While I thought it was a cute story and had adorable illustrations, I will not be holding my breath for its chances at a Caldecott award.
