Lena (lenalee11) How many books have you read in a week? My recors is 53!!!

message 2: by Mary (new)

Mary (madamefifi) | 358 comments I would say two to four on average. If I tried to read many more than that I wouldn't be able to enjoy them.

message 3: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) 53 books in a week? What kind of books are we talking about? That's an average of 7 1/2 books a day.

message 4: by Lena (new)

Lena (lenalee11) oh, most of its monga, but i read at least 5 reg books a week

message 5: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) That makes a lot more sense.

message 6: by Lena (new)

Lena (lenalee11) lol, yah...

Elizabeth of Silver's Reviews (silversreviews) Wow!!! I can't finish one book in a week. :)

That is amazing you folks can finish more than one.

message 8: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) I can generally read between 3-4 books a week, sometimes more, depending on the type of book and how much time I spend on GR. LOL

message 9: by Lena (new)

Lena (lenalee11) yah my teatchers get onto me for reading too muchand my reading level(Taken by a test) iz 12.9+

Elizabeth of Silver's Reviews (silversreviews) Why would anyone complain about someone reading too much....that is what we try to promote.

That seems odd to say something about a wonderful thing such a reading...I wasn't complaining about someone reading so much....I was amazed about how anyone would have time to read so many books.

I think it is wonderful to hear that someone can read and enjoy so many books in such a short time.

message 11: by Lena (new)

Lena (lenalee11) lol, no they complain cuz sometimez i would spaceout XP

Elizabeth of Silver's Reviews (silversreviews) OHHHHH...ok...space out because you got absorbed in the books?

:)

message 13: by Lena (new)

Lena (lenalee11) Yup!

message 15: by Maryam (new)

Maryam | 11 comments 7 books, one a day.

message 16: by Jason (new)

Jason Cook (rytr_1) | 211 comments Roughly 2-3 books per week. I average about 10 books per month (sometimes more, sometimes less, depending on what's going on) so 2.5/week is about right.

message 17: by Bhumi (new)

Bhumi | 524 comments 53, Lenalee? That's amazing.

I can probably only do about 2, maybe 3.

message 18: by Donna (new)

Donna (dfiggz) | 1626 comments I usually read one in a week sometimes I can do more but it really depends on the book. Last week I did 3 but they were short or very captivating...

message 19: by Shaun (new)

Shaun (WeHaveLostSignal) | 2 comments Usually 2 a week if its in the quieter seasons of my job, though with juggling going out with friends, a second job, and necessary tasks, I generally only get about 50 to 100 pages read a day. On vacation time though, I can pound away 4 or 5 in a week.

message 20: by Flora (new)

Flora Smith (bookwormflo) I usually read 1 to 2 books a week, depending on the size of the book. I could probably read more than that, but I have a life too.....work, kids, bfs, etc

message 21: by Alisha Marie (new)

Alisha Marie (endlesswonderofreading) | 715 comments Probably 2 or 3. If they're young adult, then it I can probably read 4 or 5. I guess it all depends on how much schoolwork I have that week and how much of my time my job is taking from me.

message 22: by Dan (new)

Dan | The Ancient Reader (theancientreader) It probably averages out to something between 2 and 3. My goal for the year is 120 so I'd have to do about 2.5 a week to hit that. I read several books at a time so I tend to finish books in groups. May go a week with no finishes and then have 3 or 4 or 5 the next week.

message 23: by Donna (new)

Donna (dfiggz) | 1626 comments I made my goal of 65 for the year but...I wil not make it I am only 47 in.

I can sometimes read a book ina day but not lately since school, work, and two babies! I am changing my goal for next year to 55!

message 24: by JSou (new)

JSou I'm like that too, Dan. There's times I can finish a few in a week, and then other times it takes me a couple weeks just to finish one. It just depends on what I'm reading, and what I have going on at certain times.

message 25: by Rachel Lee (new)

Rachel Lee (rlcwt9) | 71 comments If I am in a reading mood, I can easily read a book a day (though they generally are at most 350 pages). If longer it takes me 1.5-2 days. When I was reading for the fall challenge, I read about 35-40 books a month. But once I finished, I have slowed down a lot and am watching more TV (gotta catch up on my DVR it was overfull!)

Once the new challenge starts in Dec, I will probably be back to my book-a-day routine. And with the holidays coming up, I can get 2 books a day read when I don't have work.

message 26: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne (bellamy22) | 610 comments I'm in the same ballpark as Jessica and Dan. In between the house, yard, and all the dogs, I try to do most of my reading at night.
My problem is ... I fall asleep!!!
I also feel guilty if I'm hanging out reading when everyone else is here doing things!

Angst!

message 27: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (sbez05) | 556 comments It really depends on the book I'm reading. I can power through a 500 pages book in 2 days if I'm really into it or if my mood is right, but I've been working on my current <200 page collection of short stories for almost 2 weeks. I promised myself I'd finish it tonight, though, because I've never spent this long on such a short book.

On average, I probably read about 2 a week.

message 28: by Cassie (new)

Cassie (cassielo) | 42 comments I can get through two books o' fluff a day, but anything that requires presence of mind needs a day or two. I think I'm averaging between 3-5 books a week, fluff included.

message 29: by Jen (new)

Jen (nekokitty) | 110 comments If I'm reading an average size book (less than 600 pages), I can quite often finish one a week. However, I LOVE big books! If it's more than 1,000 pages, bring it on!

I work full time, and am a mother of two kids who love to be outside - so I don't get a lot of time to read, but when I do, I take advantage of it.

message 30: by Usako (new)

Usako (bbmeltdown) | 326 comments 1-2 books a week. If I'm reading 500+ during a work week, it can drag to a whole week. And if I have other RL tasks, that'll drag even longer.

I have on a weekend read 4-5 books.

message 31: by Ayu (new)

Ayu Yudha (ayu_yudha) my best record is 5 books a week..

message 32: by ilona (new)

ilona (svaubajkama) It depends ofc, but i think average is 2 or 3 books per week. I never payed attention to my best record...

message 33: by Moody (new)

Moody Claire (singurl) | 88 comments Well, with a normal book of 300-400 pages, I found out that I can read one in a day so if I read with the same number of pages. I can read 7 books in a week though I don't really focus on reading so I normally finish 5 books in a week tops.

I have other activities to put my attention on so there 3-5 books in a week.

message 34: by Liz (new)

Liz I usually take a week at least to get through a book, though sometimes I'll do two in a week.

message 35: by Moody (new)

Moody Claire (singurl) | 88 comments We're all fast readers here, I think. It just depends on the focus and the time we have that keeps us long on one.

message 36: by Ida Suyanto (new)

Ida Suyanto | 21 comments How can you guys read more than one book a week? I used to finish 3 books a week. Now I'm working and I only can finish 1 book in 2-3 weeks. But I try to read faster so I can read more :)

message 37: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (jess0702) | 68 comments I get through about 2, give or take one. I wish I had more time to read though! So many books, so little time...

Lyn (Readinghearts) (lsmeadows) The most I have ever read in one week was 4, but my average is about 2 or so a week. The 4 was when I was sick and stayed in bed all day and did nothing but read.

message 39: by Roseann (last edited Dec 18, 2009 11:30PM) (new)

Roseann | 400 comments When I am "on challenge" I average anywhere from 2-4 depending on the length a day. So I guess 14-24. When I am "off challenge" I'd say 5-7 a week.

I just got back to reading some comics too, but I only get them twice a month. I would say an average shipment is 15-20.
