Ann, it wasn't that great for me. Others seem to like it a lot though.

Well, I'll just stay optimistic, since I've been waiting so long for it. There are other books that I've been waiting even longer on. Sigh, why can't people get their books back on time when there are others waiting on them? If I have a book that someone has on reserve, I read it as quickly as I can. Then get it back as soon as possible. But there are at least 3 where I've been #1 on the reserve list for over a month--and they STILL aren't back. (grumble, grumble, grumble) lol, I guess I shouldn't complain too much--at least I'll get them eventually.

This is true but I feel your pain! Some people are just inconsiderate. HPMF!

I met my personal goal of 150 books this year!! (Plus I did put a nice dent in my tbr pile!) I promise no more updates unrelated to this challenge!

Martina's TBR Clean-Up Challenge - 9/9 COMPLETED - FINISHED! YAY!

Wow! So glad I was able to finish the year strong (which should keep me on the leaderboard, too)! And without dipping into my alternates, either! Now, I just have to spend some time compiling my list for January!

Just finished Touch of Darkness (Thrall, Book 3) by C.T. Adams & Cathy Clamp (★★★★). I started reading this series in 2006 with the first book, Touch of Evil. I read the second one, Touch of Madness, in Sept 2007, and bought this one as soon as it came out in August 2008. It's been sitting on my TBR pile ever since. I'm not even sure why I abandoned the series - maybe because I'm not a huge fan of the main character - maybe because I like traditional vampires - or maybe because it just didn't stand out enough in my mind. But most likely it's because the 2nd book in the series was a little less enjoyable for me than the 1st & 3rd ones.

That said, I thought this third & final book in the series was a solid 4-stars. Note that it is more a UF series than PNR. The series takes place mostly in Denver, CO and centers around Kate, an tall, athletic, Irish-Catholic, red-headed, tough-chick, diamond courier. In Kate's world, vampires take the form of a parasitic, hive-minded creature called The Thrall that exist relatively openly in the world alongside humans and werewolves.

In this particular book, Kate is about to get married, but things keep going wrong to put off the wedding. First a freak snowstorm damages Kate's apartment, then there's problems with her fiance's ex-girlfriend, then Kate's ex-boyfriend. Kate's psychic powers are suddenly missing, and everyone around her is having a baby! The question is, how many of these problems are The Thrall behind? And how can Kate stop them?

The series is unique in the form of vampires it presents, but Kate's behaviour and the general storyline is mostly so-so and remniscent of many other series out there right now. Read this series if you like the following: The Cassandra Palmer series, Cat & Bones, Tales of An Urban Werewolf, Anna Strong, & the Nocturne City books.

Note that if shape-shifters are more your thing, these authors also co-write the Sazi PNR series which I also HIGHLY recommend.

Thanks Yz for this challenge, I really made a whole in my TBR pile!

Hey Tara, I made it to 150 books today. I just counted! I did not get out to read that many this year, but I am glad I did!! I love goodreads!

Boo Hoo! I am not going to finish the challenge--darn the holidays ;-)

I had great intentions of finishing the book today, but I had to put finishing touches to mine and my husband's costumes for tonight's "Party like a rockstar" new year's eve party. Everyone has to dress like some famous rocker/rapper/etc...

I am going as Lady Gaga and my husband is going as Prince-Purple Rain era. We were gonna be a rocker couple, but we couldn't agree on one. Anyway, I have always wanted to be a blonde...I know after tonight if they really have more fun ;-)

WOW thats amazing! Great Job. I would be happy to make it to 100. That is my goal for 2010 and if I make it that far I will raise it. :)
