Merri, I'm not going to make it either, but it sure was fun trying! I'm looking forward to next year and all the great books awaiting me in 2010!

I don't really think this group needs to change anything. I love that it's such a personal goal- no set readings, no pressure to 'keep up' with the group, and it's great getting to see what everyone else is reading (I've added a ton of books to my 'want to read' list that I'd never even heard of until I saw them here!). That said, there have been a few times where something was recommended by one of the members but, silly me, I forgot to make a note at the time and then had trouble finding the post again...
How about a section for recommendations, maybe organized by genre? That way if someone is in the mood for a certain type of book it would be easy to check and see if any of the other members had come across anything particularly good recently.

it's been great and i'll surely join the 2010 group =)

Stacie, thanks for your feedback. I really like that idea about somehow tracking recommended books by genre . . . Andrea and I will see what we can do with that.

Merri, it's fund to have a goal to strive for! You know, by stopping in here I find I get enthusiastic about just reading MORE - no matter how many books or pages I end up with at the end of the year. I'm glad you're here, my friend!
Kay, I agree with you about finding motivation to read more just from spending some time here. I've had so many great suggestions and I'm always motivated when i see someone liking something I have on my shelf. It's like the gym, I love it but I need a little push to get there...lol

Thanks Kay and Andrea for making this such a fun reading year. Can't wait to get started on next year's 75 books with all of you!
hugs

Laughed yesterday when I received my 1st holiday present- A World without End- I think that is the title- the squeal to Pillars!! It is even longer I think 1000 pages! All I could think of was if I read this I will never make 75 books again next year- but I will figure something out since it is supposed to be fabulous!

Kay and Andrea, thank you for making the challenge. I've definitely found myself reading a lot more than I normally would. I'm not sure if I will join in next year because I'm challenging myself to read more classics for the new year, but I will see. :-)

Keep up the good work. I love that you check up on everyone's progress every now and then :)

I really think life circumstances just got in the way this year- i am determined to hit at least 60 or 65 next year
