Merri #1 Just Take My Heart: A Novel by Mary Higgins Clark

Listened in the car book on CD! Always enjoy her mysteries-lots of twists in this one-literally couldn't figure it out until the last 2 chapters!

Merri I totally agree- but I'm addicted to the farm games on facebook- New Years resolutions- less farming more reading!

The Help-has already got my attention-so it should be easy to stay off computer!

Merri, The Help was probably my favorite read of 2009! Enjoy!

I know what you mean, Merri, I downsized my farm this year so I won't spend soooo much time on it. I really want to focus more on my two passions in life: cross stitching and reading...I could have read soooo much more if I'd just shut the comp off!

Merri So here is the plan
I have one book on Cd going in the car

Sounds like a good plan! =)

message 16: by Michelegg (new)

Michelegg (mggoertzen) I like your plan Merri. I have The Help on my 2010 List. Can't wait to hear your thoughts.

message 17: by Merri (new)

Merri #3 Are You There Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea
by Chelsea Handler

If you like Chelsea Handler-you will love this book!

message 18: by Michelegg (new)

Michelegg (mggoertzen) #3 for Merri. Boy are you gonna blow away 75 books this year.

message 19: by Merri (new)

Merri #4 The Diary by Eileen Goudge 2 stars- I was disappointed in this book-Usually enjoy her books more.

message 20: by Michelegg (new)

Michelegg (mggoertzen) Oh I'd hoped you would like it. I enjoyed it so much. Chocolate and vanilla I guess huh?

message 21: by Merri (new)

Merri Definitely! I can't really even say why- it just didn't grab me- maybe because i listened to it on CD in the car.

message 22: by Merri (new)

Merri #5 The Help by Kathryn Stockett 5 stars- fiction/historical fiction-amazing book

message 23: by Michelegg (new)

Michelegg (mggoertzen) Yay, you liked it! I can't wait to see what I think now. lol

message 24: by Merri (new)

I used to LOOOVE Nora Roberts! I suppose I still do, but have branched out a bit, i still have a handful of her books on my TBR shelf, but I've not read this one, I may need to add it! She does know how to spin a good tale!

I used to read a lot of Nora Robert's too and then I got away from it to read more serious and diverse stories and I never really read anything by her after that. I do have some of her other books and I'm inspired to try her again, I would really like to read one of her newer books to see if her writing has changed at all.

message 28: by Merri (new)

Merri Her writing is the same- I find that sometimes after a deeper book like The Help- I need an easy read- she is perfect! Also when I am crazed at work- like now- it is President's Day but I came in anyway cause I am swamped- i can't read anything heavy.

message 29: by Merri (new)

Merri Put down Anna Karenina for now- Not the time for a book i need to totally concentrate on- I will go back to it at some other time.

message 30: by Merri (new)

Merri #8 Just Who will You BE- Maria Shriver
Re-read Excellent book -short to the point but a deep message about life

Merri, I did the same thing about 5 years or so again and it's still waiting to be picked up again! Maybe someday...

message 32: by Merri (new)

Merri #9 Knit the Season- Kate Jacobs 3 stars- 3rd in the series- not many surprises in this one!
This was a book on CD- Went to work yesterday-even though a holiday-I get an extra day whenever I want it- so I was able to listen all day!

message 33: by Merri (new)

Merri #10 City of Thieves by David Benidoff- 3 stars-

message 34: by Merri (new)

Merri #11 The Beach House - Jane Green 4 stars- nice easy book to listen to on CD in the car!

message 35: by Michelegg (new)

Michelegg (mggoertzen) Merri I have City of Thieves and The Beach House on my TBR pile. Glad you enjoyed the Beach House. I started it, got midway through and got distracted by something else. I need to go back and finish it. It was a good one! Glad you enjoyed it. Would you recommend City of Thieves? Will I enjoy it?

message 36: by Merri (new)

Merri I would recommend it- but it is very intense-so make sure you are in the mood for it!

message 37: by Michelegg (new)

Michelegg (mggoertzen) Thanks for the heads up Merri.

message 38: by Merri (new)

Merri #12 Finger Licken Fifteen- Janet Evonovich- just love all her books- can't wait until they let us know who will play the characters in the movie!

message 39: by Michelegg (new)

Michelegg (mggoertzen) Can anyone ever be Ranger?

message 40: by Merri (new)

Merri I actually listen to her books on CD in the car-and when he says "BABE" i melt
i always think of Antonio Bandaras-but i think he is to old!

message 41: by Michelegg (new)

Michelegg (mggoertzen) Lol sounds like the narrator is a keeper! Everything about Ranger makes me melt!

message 42: by Andrea, Moderator (new)

Andrea | 4421 comments Mod
I had no idia that Janet's books were being turned into a movie, how exciting!

message 43: by Michelegg (new)

Michelegg (mggoertzen) With Kathryn Heigl as Stephanie, which is strange to me! Lol

message 44: by Andrea, Moderator (new)

Andrea | 4421 comments Mod
Ohhh really?! She would be about the last person I would pick for the part of Stephanie...lol I do like her a lot but I'm just not able to picture that. hmmmmm

message 45: by Michelegg (new)

Michelegg (mggoertzen) I'm with you Andrea!

message 46: by Merri (new)

Merri Am I the only one who thought Stephanie had long dark wavy hair? Not sue where i got that from- but I really think they need to consult with me before casting!

message 47: by Dawn Michelle (new)

Dawn Michelle | 3472 comments Maybe they will dye her hair dark and give her extensions??? Would that help with her being cast as this character? :-)

message 48: by Dawn Michelle (new)

Dawn Michelle | 3472 comments Oooo, I just saw a pic of KH and SHE HAS REALLY REALLY dark hair!!!! I knew inquiring minds would want to know!! :-)

message 49: by Michelegg (new)

Michelegg (mggoertzen) I heard she'd dyed it dark. But will she do the whole 80s perm thing. Cause Stephanie's from Jersey and had BIG hair, right?

message 50: by Merri (new)

Merri Sorry- but I must thank you all for making me laugh- i truly am a major Stephanie Plum fan but I think it is hysterical that we all read the best books out there- yet this is the one we discuss! Don't get me wrong I love this discussion!

And if anyone ever meets Ranger- he's mine!
