Suziqoregon Looks like I might break 100 this year, but I've got a lot of chunksters planned for next year, so 75 will be a valid goal.

Very glad to be continuing with this group for another year!!

message 2: by Michelegg (new)

Michelegg (mggoertzen) What chunksters have you got planned?

message 3: by Merri (new)

Merri Inquiring minds want to know! LOL

message 4: by Michelegg (new)

Michelegg (mggoertzen) Yes, exactly Merri. We might want to read them too.

message 5: by Suziqoregon (new)

Suziqoregon Well - these are on the want to list. The only absolute definites are the first two, but I'd like to knock off a couple beyond that if I can.

That's going to seriously reduce my # of books for 2010.

East of Eden (600+ pages) which I've never read but will be reading for a group discussion.

Re-reading Sarum by Edward Rutherfurd (912 pages) - it's been years and I want to read that one again and then read another by him - London (1152 pages)

Jacob's Ladder by Donald McCaig (528 pages)

The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova (600+ pages)

Drums of Autumn by Diana Gabaldon (900? pages)

Dawn on a Distant Shore by Sara Donati (642 pages)

message 6: by Karol (new)

Karol | 182 comments Wow! That is quite an impressively ambitious list!

The largest book I plan to read next year is Stephen King's "Under the Dome". Not quite like the literary epics you've picked out, but hopefully it will be engaging and entertaining enough for me to make it through the 1000+ pages.

message 7: by Michelegg (new)

Michelegg (mggoertzen) Suzi you've definitely got some awesome chunksters on the list. I've got Under the Dome on mine and Echo in the Bone by Gabaldon but I think that's all the Big Ole Books I'll be reading this year. So glad to be reading with you again this year.

message 8: by Joy (new)

Joy | 1116 comments Oooh! The Historian is on my TBR list for 2010 too! Wow, you really do some big ones in there! Me too! Anna Karenina and War and Peace! LOL...we'll see if I make it around to the Historian! Happy New Year and good luck with your challenge!

message 9: by Michelegg (new)

Michelegg (mggoertzen) The historian is awesome. Hope you both get to that one.

*Sigh*... I love these books! I usually wind up re-reading them (or listening to the audio version) once a year or so because they are so much fun. They have become one of my favorite comfort reads :)

(now I want to drop everything and read them again, LOL!)

I read this last year and also thought it an excellent book. I read your blog post and agree with your thoughts. In addition to scary, I found it very poignant, as the characters seemed very real.

SuzieQ, I really enjoyed reading your blog post about this book. I have read a couple of books by Lincoln Child and was looking for more at my library, when I saw a few books by Lee Child. I was intrigued by the covers and descriptions - so now its great to see that someone I know really likes this series. Since I tend to like things like law and order/espionage and spy stories/just plain old mysteries, it sounds that I would really like them too.
