Kelli | 209 comments 1. 1st to Die by James Patterson. 3 stars. Another intriguing detective mystery by James Patterson.

2. How To Talk To A Widower by Jonathan Tropper. 4 stars. A surprisingly light, funny book about grief. Chosen as a Summer Read by Richard and Judy's Book Group in the U.K. awhile back.

Kelli, I've heard some mixed reviews about Niffenegger's "The Time Traveler's Wife". I picked that up and didn't get very far with it. Still, I might try again sometime.

I'm wondering what you thought of "Symmetry"?

message 5: by Kelli (new)

Kelli | 209 comments Kay, "The Time Traveler's Wife" is one of the best books I have ever read. You must try again. Seriously, it is wonderful. "Symmetry" was okay, but not on the same level.

Hmmm . . . well, next time I see it at the library I'll probably give it another shot. Thanks!

Have you read others by Anita Shreve? Is she good? I have one of hers "Sea Glass" in my TBR stacks, it looks good, so just wondering, if you thought she was a good writer? =)

message 22: by Kelli (new)

Kelli | 209 comments Hi Joy. Yes, Anita Shreve is a very good writer and I really enjoy her books. Having said that, I think the one you have "Sea Glass" is not one of her best.

Kelli, I also love Kate Atkinson. I'm adding this one to my list.

message 38: by Kelli (new)

Kelli | 209 comments Andrea: It is the best one. It is different from the other two of hers that I've read. It is not a crime novel. It is about a dysfunctional family and amongst the tragedy you find yourself laughing instead of crying. What could be depressing is written with just enough humor to swallow it all. I loved it. You must read it. Do you have a copy? Mine is very used but I can pass it on to you if you'd like. Kelli

I didn't think I would get into this, as to tell you the truth I'm not big into "Fad Reading"...to show you what I mean....I didn't start reading the Harry Potter Books until after the last one came out, my hubby dragged me to a release party and so I finally broke down and read the series...Same with this one, I didn't start reading the books until after the movie New Moon came out, but once I started reading I had a hard time puttig them down.

I really enjoyed The Mermaid Chair, and The Secret life of bees by the same author...I want to read Three Cups of Tea...one day.

message 49: by Kelli (new)

Kelli | 209 comments Joy: Three Cups of Tea is definitely worth reading. I had it on my TBR list for way too long. As for the Twilight series, I just borrowed Eclipse and will read it very soon. It's crazy how addicting these things can be. Kelli

I am so with you on that...but it is neat to have series, in my opinion, because who ever wants a good book to end? A series helps the story just be a bit longer...and very addicting!! I am going to have to borrow Three Cups from the library I think...Sooo many books!!
