Always glad to see someone else pick up the Morganville Vampires series and love it! I bought the first 2 for my niece for Christmas and she loved them. She had to go to Borders and get #3 & #4!

Finished Shades of Midnight and starting Hush, Hush.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish Jan wrote: "Finished Shades of Midnight and starting Hush, Hush."

How was Shades? I need to finish Lord of Scoundrels then start my January Pick-It books. Shades is on my shelf waiting.

message 22: by Jess (new)

Jess | 3721 comments I'm about to start Divine Misdemeanors. I don't know what to expect, I've heard both good and bad things. But I've tried to stay out of any discussions since I don't want anything spoiled. Let everyone know what I think whenever I finish it :)

message 23: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 3123 comments Sherry, I just put that book on my list and am looking forward to it, glad to hear you thought it was good.

I am not so patiently waiting for copies of Shades of Midnight and Hush Hush from the library. I love the midnight series so expect that will be good, the other I have heard good things about so am looking forward to that.

The new Merry book, was just ok for me, but then again I think the whole series is that, but I can't stop reading them.

Evermore wasn't my fav but it was a lot better than Blue moon. I'm hopeing that Shadowland is better but I haven't heard good things so far. But we will see.

I thought HUSH, HUSH started out well, but it lost steam really fast. I ended up being disappointed with it.

message 26: by Ellen (last edited Jan 02, 2010 08:13PM) (new)

Ellen (ellenpenleysmith) Finished Cry Wolf just a couple of minutes ago; definitly going to read Hunting Ground. Still reading Fallen and will most likely pick up Wicked Lovely and Half Way To The Grave next after Fallen.

message 27: by Aimee (new)

message 28: by Christina (new)

Christina | 35 comments I read Three Days to Dead by Kelly Medling. I tried to get into it but it just was okay for me. I followed it up with Nicole Peeler's Tempest Rising which I thoroughly enjoyed. Now I'm onto Boneshaker by Cherie Priest... It sounds very interesting and I've read good things about it.

Well... I enjoyed it. It wasn't my favorite romance-wise. I liked Alex, LOVED Kade, but their romance seemed rushed to me. And some of Alex's reaction were implausible to me.

I thought I posted a brief review last night, but I guess not. I just posted it now, if you want a little more detail.

message 30: by Jess (new)

Jess | 3721 comments I finished Divine Misdemeanors and I thought it was good. It felt like the first few Merry books. Less fey drama and more crime solving and kicking ass.

I must not have reached the part where it loses steam. I stayed up way too late last night cuz I didn't wanna put it down! LOL

message 32: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Orlich Ahern (kittymeowxcore) | 65 comments I'm reading Covet (Fallen Angels, #1) by J.R. Ward . I had a real hard time getting into it...don't know why. But once I got past the first chapter, I really really got into it. I can't put it down now. It's taking me a while to read, and I'm not sure why. It's gotta be a long book (I read on a Kindle, so I don't really know when the book will end.) I'm about 80% through it, and have NO idea what I'll read next. I have a bunch of chapter samples on my Kindle to go through with other books.

Thank you! I'll check it out now.

Nichole (DirrtyH) (dirtyh) I just finished my re-read of A Rush of Wings and In The Blood and am now reading Beneath the Skin. I absolutely love these books, but why does she have to drag out the beginning so much? Wake up, Dante!

That's on my list. I'm reading The Summoning, but I have a feeling I'm going to FLY through those two books, so I'll probably read Fallen next, and then start the Vampire Academy series.

One of my faves too--my youngest brother is a big fantasy reader and he turned me onto it. Now we finally got my mom and my other brother reading it and they are both on A Clash of Kings and loving it so far. Yeah! :)

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) I started [image error] and The Darkest Night (Lords of the Underworld, #1) by Gena Showalter last night. Both are good so far.

message 41: by Anna (new)

Anna (drannouk) | 8 comments Just finished Soulless(loved it) and Death's Mistress(great read!). Gave A Game of Thronesto my brother for Xmas, and am currently starting The Sandman Vol. 01 Preludes and Nocturnes and The Lunatic Cafe. It's never enough!

What was the best book you read in 2009?

message 42: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 3123 comments I have a couple going right now, Street Game, which it seems like I am reading more for the Whitney how much can he screw then up aspect than the couple of each book as that is getting boring, and The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane, which is turning out to me a lot more interesting than I thought it was going to be. I am not sure if it is because I am listening to it on audio versus reading. I have an idea had I had the book I would have gotten bored and given it up.

Paranormal would be, hands down, Lover Avenged by JR Ward.

I read some amazing historicals too, though. The Bride, The Wedding, The Secret, Ransom... all by Julie Garwood.

Danse Macabre is one of my favorite books out of the series. Who all has read her books?

My copy came in the mail today but I won't be able to read it for awhile.

message 48: by Tracy (new)

Tracy (tracegirl) | 15 comments Finished reading Divine Misdemeanors and I liked it. Curious on how things will go when she's more preggers and what the kids will look like.
Reading Harmony's Way by Lora Leigh

message 49: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 3123 comments I am reading Street Game right now, about 200 pages in. I do have to say it is better than I thought it would be. I have thought the last couple haven't been all that great, the couples stories not believable. I have been reading more for the havoc Whitney has caused. But you are right about her over use of the word megalomaniac, so far it hasn't been used.
