message 401: by Valorie (new)

Valorie I just finished Eve of Chaos by S.J. Day. I loved it!! I really hope she writes another book in the series soon! I'm now starting on The Darkest Pleasure (Lords of the Underworld, #3) by Gena Showalter . I really enjoy this series as well.

message 402: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 3123 comments Up next for me will be Hallowed Circle (Persephone Alcmedi, #2) by Linda Robertson by Linda Robertson. This is the second one and the first one surprised me by how good it was.

Sarah | 766 comments Just started Never After by Laurell K. Hamilton

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 1831 comments Sarah! I'm anxious to see how LKH does outside her normal worlds!

message 405: by Darcy (last edited Feb 05, 2010 11:05AM) (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 3123 comments I read the short story in the book that Sarah picked and it was weird. About 34 pages long and hardly worth reading. But that is just my opinion. Sarah, can you stop and let us know what you thought?

message 406: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 766 comments Totally agree with Darcy. It felt pointless--little more than a girl-power morality tale. Which is ok, unless it's written by a famous author and reads like a grade-schooler wrote it in class.

message 407: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 3123 comments What kills me about that story is that I am sure she was paid BIG $$$ for it, and her name is plastered in huge font all over the book. But I guess if you have reached that point in your career where you can do that, more power to you.

message 408: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 766 comments I was thinking more like her name is plastered in the largest print on the cover, but she only wrote 36 pages of it. I hate it when anthologies treat one author like they are a bigger draw than the others.

Frankly, I'm most looking forward to the Marjorie M. Liu story. I really like her style and storytelling.

message 409: by Anna (new)

Anna (stregamari) Sharon Shinn's story was wonderful, as is all of her writing. And I did like LKH's story also, sweet and a nice change. Crafted as well as any of her other stories

message 410: by new_user (new)

new_user Yeah, I like Shinn too. :D

message 411: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 3123 comments I am hitting the lighter side of PNR with
Real Vampires Hate Their Thighs (Glory St. Claire, #5) by Gerry Bartlett and Accidentally Demonic (Accidental Series, #4) by Dakota Cassidy .

message 412: by Archer (new)

Archer Just started "Flirt" today..

Very short book though that's kinda disappointing, at least 'Bullet" comes out in October..

The Gerry Bartlett book is on the way to me. Looking forward to it as I always enjoy a visit with Glory & Blade...........and Ray!

message 414: by Anna (last edited Feb 06, 2010 03:34PM) (new)

Anna (aknas22) | 349 comments I agree Darcy! I love the series, but the covers are a bit cheesy. I really hope she writes another book in the series soon!

I really liked this series but the ending of the third books is probably my least favorite ending ever.

message 415: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 3123 comments Melodie wrote: The Gerry Bartlett book is on the way to me. Looking forward to it as I always enjoy a visit with Glory & Blade...........and Ray!

Well I am about half way through and there is lots of crazy going on, just what you expect from Glory and more and more between Blade and Ray, but what surprises me is we have Valdez to add to the mix now too. I think you will really like it.

message 416: by Anna (new)

Anna (aknas22) | 349 comments I liked Flirt, it was short but then I knew it would be since its LKH's surprise story. Bullet is the one that is planned and will be the normal size.

I hated the ending too, but only because it was such a cliff hanger and now I am dying to know what happened next and the next book is out somewhere on the horizon.

I know that's why I didn't like it. I keep checking her website and there's never anything about a fourth book. Right now S.J. Day is working on a proposal for a new paranormal series.

I found that Scorched move pretty slowly throughout the book. It had a much different pace and action sequence compared with Ravenous.

Jess, yes that is true the pace seems not as intense. Also the Mac Connie thing I am not really into that one.

I just finished this one over the weekend. I loved it and thought Glory made some good decisions with the guys, but looks like there might be a bunch more to make coming up.

message 443: by Mary E. (new)

Mary E. (jujjy) | 16 comments Last one finished was Death's Mistress (Dorina Basarab, #2) by Karen Chance . It felt like forever waiting for this one to be released, and I wasn't disappointed...LOVED IT, as I've loved every Karen Chance title I've read.

Right now, I'm about 1/3 through Poltergeist (Greywalker, Book 2) by Kat Richardson . I'm getting frustrated so far, because I seem to remember loving the first book Greywalker (Greywalker, Book 1) by Kat Richardson . But this one is boring so far, too much geek-speak regarding the very detailed mechanics of faking paranormal phenomena. Where is the action I love in my UF? I hope it picks up soon.

And I'm also about an hour away from finishing the audiobook [image error] . LOVE this one! I listen to audiobooks during my work commute, and during Chapter 18 I had to pull over because I was sobbing so hard I couldn't safely drive. I can't wait to get the sequel Catching Fire (Hunger Games, #2) by Suzanne Collins ; hopefully I can find the audiobook at the library, because I really enjoy this narrator's energy and emotion.

message 444: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 3123 comments Mary that is good to know about the Hunger games books on audio. I read the first one, but am waiting for the second on audio as the wait list was much shorter.

message 445: by Carolyn F. (new)

Carolyn F. Reading Born to be Bad by Sherrilyn Kenyon. It's a group of 3 stories. I'm not really liking the first story too much. Hopefully it gets better.

message 448: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 766 comments @Carolyn--I tried Born to Be Bad and had to give up on it. I didn't like it at all.

@Jess--Did you like Wake? That has become one of my favorite new YA trilogies. I can't wait for Gone to come out so I know how things turn out.

message 449: by Carolyn F. (new)

Carolyn F. I feel sorry for myself Sarah, I listed it in one of challenges so I've got to finish it. Thank goodness the font is huge, I should get through it quick.
