Shayann (shayann) | 9 comments WHEN YOU HAVE FAVORITE SERIES THAT YOU OFTEN READ AT LEAST ONCE A YEAR- WILL THEY COUNT AS BOOKS READ FOR THIS YEAR OR ARE THEY A NONCOUNT READ

message 2: by Dara (last edited Jan 15, 2010 06:06PM) (new)

Dara B (conmigo) I'd say noncount unless you read them a while ago, but of course that's for you to decide, ultimately.

Sherri (sherrij2003) It's something you read so why not? It's what you read that YEAR not what you've read in the past but are rereading...mark the book as a reread so there are no mistakes if you want but I think it would be ok.

message 4: by Sawyer (new)

Sawyer | 9 comments I'm planning on counting quite a few rereads myself, but they're all books I read a while ago (or just blazed through just so I could finish them and then completely forgot them later). But I wouldn't count a book that I more or less could remember the whole of and that I knew I couldn't get anything new out of.

message 5: by Lexi (new)

Lexi | 345 comments I count them as long as I haven’t read them already that year. There are a few books that I loved that I read last year and when the sequels come out i well probably reread the one I already read.

librarian4Him02 | 311 comments I figure if I've read them they count - rereads or not. I do need to read them all the way through though or I don't mark them down.

Mae (birdsinflight) | 117 comments Reads are reads, so yes, count'em!

message 8: by Diane (new)

Diane | 56 comments I agree, if you read them they count. The only reason to reread a book is if it is something you really love and/or it is part of a series and it has been awhile since you read the previous book. I get something new every time I reread a book.

message 9: by Natalie (new)

Natalie | 36 comments I dont think there are any rules! I am planning on re-reading quite a few books this year, and I am planning on counting every single one of them!

message 10: by Susanna (new)

Susanna (jb_slasher) I think re-reads count. I'm trying to read books off my own shelf this year and half of those are re-reads. Besides, it's not a competition. The goal is for you to decide and what counts towards the goal is your choice.

I would draw the line on reading the same book twice in one year unless you read the original first and then the translated version because translations can be quite different (I've learned it the hard way).

Amanda As far as I'm concerned...you could read the same 50 books every year and it would still count. I'm planning on re-reading some Tolkein and I will be adding it to my list all the same...

Monica (monbon211) | 12 comments If you're reading a book from front to back, without skimming, well then, by all means, count it!

That's what one would do with any other book read, isn't it? :)

message 13: by Mai (new)

Mai | 12 comments I agree, its what you read today should count. We all have favorite books we like to read over and over again.

message 14: by Donna (last edited Jan 29, 2010 08:16AM) (new)

Donna | 1350 comments I hadn't thought about including rereads. I reread books fairly often. It's usually because I've picked up the next book in a series and find I've forgotten something referenced from the last book. Not going to count those, but To Kill a Mockingbird is on my pile & now I think I'm counting it because it's been about five years since the last round.

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm planning on rereading maybe few of my favourites. And of course I will count them to my 50 because I will spend some time to read them.

message 16: by LOVEFORBOOKS (new)

LOVEFORBOOKS (nosaintsfan23) | 15 comments i say if they take u a while then they count

message 17: by Arlene (new)

Arlene (bookwitchery) | 2 comments Many books you will get something different out of it on another read, so I think rereads count. You might notice something that you missed the first (or the most recent) time.

message 18: by Danielle (new)

Danielle (danielledore) I count them, unless I read them twice in the same year. A book read is a book read!

message 19: by Susanne (last edited May 07, 2010 12:09PM) (new)

Susanne (heysus74) I consider my rereads as Bonus Books rather than as a read...unless it's been a few years since I last read it or I've forgotten some parts of the book. Then I count it as a read. That's probably because when I'm rereading my favorite books for the 3rd/4th/5th+ time, I will quickly read over some parts.
