Since I believe I set a challenging yet realistic reading goal for myself, I am making this pledge: for every book (or equivalent pages) I am over or short of my goal I will donate 5 dollars to charity.
I am thinking about the USO or a literacy promotion of some sort. Maybe send books to soldiers serving overseas?
My challenge to everyone is to do something meaningful if your goal is very different from what you really read. The spirit of this is to get everyone to challenge themselves to read more while not setting goals they cannot achieve.
What will you do?

I love this idea!!! I cannot wait to apply this challenge to my goal. As I stand now, I am about 5 books behind. I will think of a "consequence" for not finishing (or overachieving). Let you know soon!! Thanks Barry for the inspiration!
