Chris Haught (haughtc) | 916 comments A subcategory of the topic at hand, is anyone here a Hedge Knight fan?

These are the three novellas that tell the story of the Hedge Knight, one Sir Duncan the Tall, and his squire, Egg.

The first two were published in the Legends anthologies, edited by Robert Silverberg.
"The Hedge Knight" - Legends by Robert Silverberg
"The Sworn Sword" - Legends II by Robert Silverberg

The third story is coming out this month in the new Warriors anthology:
"The Mystery Knight" - Warriors by George R.R. Martin

These stories give the readers a glimpse into Westeros about 80 - 100 years before the events of A Game of Thrones. We see a land ruled by the Targaryen family, and the noble families that follow them.

"The Hedge Knight" was the story that first introduced me to GRRM. When I read it, I simply had to get my hands on the main series. It is still one of my favorite fantasy stories.

"The Sworn Sword" continues the adventures. Both of these first two have been adapted to graphic novel versions. I have the first, and it was done nicely.

I'm really looking forward to reading "The Mystery Knight" later this month.

Julie I think I forgot about those short stories. Great, now I have to re-read the first two before I read the new one in Warriors. Of course I say that dripping with sarcasm as having to HAVE to read something is an oxymoron for me. Thanks for the reminder!

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 916 comments I'll have to re-read Sworn Sword, but since I read the graphic novel of Hedge Knight last year, it's pretty fresh. I might read the story again just for the heck of it.
