Katherine Funny how some books arrive within three days and others never show. To Be Queen arrived today with a lovely post card of the cover with an author's note and the book is signed and there is a beautiful bookmark. I've already started the book and it is a page turner so far! To Be Queen A Novel of the Early Life of Eleanor of Aquitaine by Christy English

Now, Before Versailles, which I won on June 27th is still not here. I sent an email to the publisher--the ones doing the giveaway and have received no response. Disappointing--did anyone else win this? Did you get your copy? Before Versailles A Novel of Louis XIV by Karleen Koen

Melodie (melodieco) | 5280 comments I read Feast Day Of Fools (Hackberry Holland, #3) by James Lee Burke , the last GR giveaway book I won and it was very good. Of course, with James Lee Burke I would have been amazed if it hadn't been good. Had never read his Hackberry Holland books. This was different from the Robicheaux books. Very violent with some really evil characters. Quite intense.

Karen M | 1436 comments Well, it's been a month since I won a giveaway but today I have hope. I just posted my last review and it was a really good book, Only Time Will Tell Only Time Will Tell by Jeffrey Archer

Pauline | 21 comments Congrats Melodie! Karen, I finished reading Only time will tell a while back. Reeeeeally enjoyed it-much more than I thought I would.

message 560: by Linda (new)

Linda (rudylkr) | 8959 comments I loved Only Time Will Tell!! Haven't won any giveaways since posting my review of it last week though. I guess this is the book gods way of telling me to read what I already have on my shelf.

message 561: by Karen M (new)

Karen M | 1436 comments Pauline, Linda: I really enjoyed reading Only Time Will Tell too. Just when I thought I knew exactly where the story was going, big twist at the end!

message 562: by Katherine (new)

Katherine I've started Only Time Will Tell but I'm just starting Ch 9 and I already think I know what is going on. The family trees at the beginning, the prolog and the reaction of Barrington's father to the hero and the reaction of his sister as the hero heads back to school all have me thinking the hero is Barrington sr's son and he's going to fall in love with the sister. I'm going to be really irritated if that turns out to be the case--so I've put it aside for now.

Katherine, I felt the same way. "Oh no, I know where this is going and it's so cliche." But you will be glad you finished it. Don't give up on it.

I totally agree with you Karen. Even though you can see things coming there are still some pretty big twists and turns to come.

It really is fun to get free books! Especially when they are books that you really want to read. The last 2 I got were authors that I really like and it was nice to get advance copies of the books and get to do early reviews of them to hopefully get others interested in the books, too. I have 2 more that should be on the way soon that I've won in the last week. Really looking forward to one of them!

Michelle Randall (tammommy) I'm feeling sooo guilty today.

So I only discovered the Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ Giveaways on Thursday the 18th.

Woke up to an email on the 19th that I won a book.
Woke up to an email on the 20th that I won a book.
Woke up to an email on the 21st that I won a book.

I am feeling extremely lucky, and very blessed to have won, but also guilty because some people have said they haven't won anything, but I promise to review them to the best of my ability and put them up for swap on here when I'm done.

Don't feel guilty. In 7 months I won 23 books, and I just keep reminding myself not to complain because I haven't won recently. Sometimes it seems to run in cycles. We haven't figured out the why of the selection process but maybe it really is just luck!

I registered for this one.

message 579: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Randall (tammommy) Thanks Karen!!

Especially since I woke up to another email today that I got another book,
The Dark Glamour (666 Park Avenue, #2) by Gabriella Pierce

Now I have to find the first book in this series, since this is number two to read before this one.

I'm a little OCD about that, I just HAVE to read book in order, I can't read them out of order.

Don't feel guilty at all! It's great that you won some and I'm sure no one here is gonna hold it against you :) Plus, no one has quite figured out the mechanism behind how Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ picks the winners yet--it seems that it goes in waves. I generally win a handful then nothing for months.

Katherine Well, I finished Only Time Will Tell Only Time Will Tell by Jeffrey Archer .So disappointing.

I found it boring and predictable. Wrote a review just now but gave it three stars because it isn't the worst thing I've ever read. That would probably be the Time Traveler's Wife The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger which I never did finish.

It really was VERY nice of them. I've not read Unger before but did read Midwives by Bohjalian and loved it. Not sure about this one--ghosts don't usually appeal but maybe they are friendly ghosts? LOL
