Karen B. (raggedy11) | 232 comments They say on LT to allow a long time (forget how much) to receive a book. The problem is they will count you as not having done the review if you don't post it after a certain time.

I have to tell you, it seems I am taking a long time to read A Thousand Beauties but it seems to be a terrific book about love. Not just romantic love but a love that endures in spite of the pain it might be causing. The more I read, the more I like it, but I just can't read faster. *LOL* This was a goodreads first reads win for me and the author is a goodreads author, Mark Adam Kaplan A Thousand Beauties by Mark Adam Kaplan

Katherine Hi--I didn't win Goodread giveaway of the Mullah's Storm but I did win it on Library Thing and it arrived today. Read the first chapter and, though not a cozy, it looks promising. Will review it on Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ when I'm done since it had been a giveaway here, too. The Mullah's Storm by Thomas W. Young

Karen B. (raggedy11) | 232 comments oooh you lucky person. Everything I see at Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ seems to be e-books.

message 304: by Katherine (new)

Katherine Really? I find that the case at Library Thing--this was a member's giveaway though I did win one from the May list as well as another member's giveaway

message 305: by Karen B. (new)

Karen B. (raggedy11) | 232 comments Katherine, you caught me... thanks I meant the exact opposite. LT has e-books.

message 306: by Karen M (last edited Jun 04, 2011 02:32PM) (new)

Karen M | 1436 comments Yesterday won The Autobiography of Mrs. Tom Thumb: A Novel and Game of Secrets: A Novel. And I used to wish my mother had named me after herself! It does pay to be a Karen.

I have one book, Following Polly, which I won 4/5 weeks ago that still hasn't turned up. I'll have to give it another week I guess.

Karen B. (raggedy11) | 232 comments okay my other one, does that mean it's my turn next?

Let us hope it isn't as huge as the last one!

The Little Women Letters by Gabrielle Donnelly

message 312: by Ellen (new)

Ellen (elliearcher) My month too- just won How the Mistakes Were Made (recently won Spellcast).

Now, all I have to do is finish writing and write the reviews!

Karen B. (raggedy11) | 232 comments Not a Giveaway... but feels just as good. I am so excited. I have had Cabinet of Curiosities by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child on my Shopping List for Amazon for AT LEAST for months (Used Large Print) waiting for it to be listed with supersaving free shipping and a lower price. Now today I see it was for 99 cents on Kindle. *Doing the Happy Dance* and my cats think I am crazy!

Loved Cabinet of Curosities (and Agent Pendergast) I hope you enjoy it!

On a side note, has anyone else had a streak of winning a handful of giveaways then not winning one for ages?

message 318: by Karen B. (new)

Karen B. (raggedy11) | 232 comments that seems to have happened to me. I won three the first day and it seemed like I was winning at least 3 a week. But I am a slow reader and I guess too slow getting the reviews posted. Also, unless it's a book that I will buy if I don't win, I DO NOT add it to my to read list. I have had a few authors write and ask me to add their books to the TO READ list so I did. But I haven't won for several weeks now.

message 319: by Pauline (new)

Pauline | 21 comments Well its good to know that it wasn't just me then. I won 9 in a row, the last being The Insider by Reece Hirsch and basically stopped winning. I have been keeping up with the reviews though and are going through them at a pretty quick pace. Welp, will just have to wait and see how the algorithm works itself out.

I won two in one week back in April, read both right away and posted something one them and since then...nothing.

Karen B. (raggedy11) | 232 comments I won a giveaway from the "other site" and I thought I had entered for a paper copy instead it was a PDF copy. I have been able to download it to my Kindle however the print is extremely small. When I hit the key to make the print bigger I get a different screen than usual. If I go to "actual size" it's still too small. If I go to 150%, it comes up so large that I can only see part of the page and the arrows don't help. If I didn't have to review it, I would just forget it. Anyone know enough about Kindle to help me with this?

message 322: by Karen B. (new)

Karen B. (raggedy11) | 232 comments I think the Giveaways Book Fairy must be following our posts. Yesterday I mentioned that I had not won in a while and I won two books today

Guadalajara by Quim Monzo

and

Postcards from the Line of Demarcation by Branch Isole

So Heather you are probably going to be winning something soon.

Congratulations, Karen! As you say, just as good as a giveaway. And you can adjust the font on your reader to a confortable size. Enjoy!

Katherine Won Little Women Letters on the 13th and it came by UPS on the 14th--I've got about four books to read and review now--and it is summer, and my daughter is here from Montana, and we're expecting company!!! Oh, I'm going to run away--but The Little Women Letters is terrific--I'm really loving it! The Little Women Letters by Gabrielle Donnelly

I like the cover of my unread proof better than this one!

This is the book I really wanted to win, but didn't.

message 337: by Ellen (new)

Ellen (elliearcher) I wanted it too, Shay-congratulation Katherine.

I read & reviewed one of my 2 ( Spellcast by Barbara Ashford ) which I really liked.

Now I have to finish & review the other ( How the Mistakes Were Made by Tyler Mcmahon which is starting off well.

At least I don't feel like GR hates me; I've won enough to soothe the little paranoid voice within me. And I am so "overbooked" for reading this summer I feel like I'm going to finish up these books & stop reading for ever.

Like I can even imagine what that would be like :)

message 339: by Pauline (new)

Pauline | 21 comments So I think talking on this thread about how we haven't won in a while is working. I just won The Nightmare Thief by Meg Gardiner today!

message 340: by Karen B. (new)

Karen B. (raggedy11) | 232 comments good for you Pauline! It was one I put in for because I like some other Meg Gardiner books I've read. Enjoy!!!!!!!

message 341: by Katherine (new)

Katherine Way to go Pauline--don't know that author--let us know how it is.

message 342: by Karen B. (new)

Same here. :-(

message 344: by Ellen (new)

Ellen (elliearcher) I try not to get attached to winning certain books but sometimes it's really hard.

Sometimes I want to put a pathetic note saying, Oh please please please pick me for this one!

message 345: by Karen B. (new)

Karen B. (raggedy11) | 232 comments Heather L., why don't you ask someone to pass it on to you? If I had it I would. I want you to win something so badly. If you go through my books and see something I own, let me know. I don't post under the swap site. Actually there are a lot I have given away already but if you let me know I will hold something for you, if it is still in my car.

message 346: by Karen M (new)

Karen M | 1436 comments Won Freedom's Sword today. I've always been into the whole King Arthur, Excaliber, Knights in Shining Armor. This book is about a Scottish King who must fight the English for his throne in 1296.

message 347: by Karen B. (new)

Karen B. (raggedy11) | 232 comments congrats my other one. *LOL* It's nice to read someone wins something they were really hoping to win. Am becomintg more picky about my own selections.

Does anyone know ... does Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ have a site of e-book giveaways listed separately?

@ Heather L and Shay-- a really good book--I did a review on it this am. Passing it on to my sisters!

@ Karen B--I forget--why do you need my snail mail again?

message 349: by Karen B. (new)

Karen B. (raggedy11) | 232 comments Katherine, I know it's been a while but I promised to send you my copy of One Dog Night when I was finished and I finished yesterday. Fooling around with learning to use my Kindle has slowed me down even more. Now I read goodreads first reads during the day and books on Kindle which I can read better in the evening. It works, but I have two books going at once this way plus being on here and writing way too much on my groups. *LOL*

message 350: by Ellen (new)

Ellen (elliearcher) Karen B: congratulations! Another win!! How cool is that?
