So I'm Stac. I'm a Leo, and just had a birthday last week. This week is my older brother's birthday, and frankly, I think it was really, REALLY inconsiderate of him to get himself born a week and seven years before me. Manners?
For dinner last night I tried to eat withered radish greens along with my roasted radishes and charred flesh (but still pink on the inside, baby!) but it tasted horrible so I set it free. In my front yard.
I'm a book whore. Seriously. My house may as well be a library, and the dust collected on all of my papery children is extreme. but I love them so I forgive them for trying to kill me. I read virtually anything; I went to a local thrift store and loaded up on olf Iris Johansons from the early '80s, but I'm also listening to the (UNABRIDGED.) audiobook of Ghost Stories by Peter Straub.
My favorite place to read is anywhere I can sprawl, but thanks to the iBook option on my phone I also read while waiting in line at the grocery store.
My first romance novel was actually a British Harlequin that someone left in my backyard when I was about 9. I snagged it for my mom, who promptly turned up her nose because she's too GOOD for European trash! (Whatever, woman, you own Anais Nin porn!) I was able to find the (extremely tame) smutty bits and realized this was pretty cool. The first romance novel that I remember reading cover to cover was Uncertain Magic by Laura Kinsale, and it's still one of my favorites. Roddy and Faelan... man did that woman make clinical insanity romantic!
Favorite couple? I've been reading smut for the last 25 years (I'm a precocious reader, I'm not that damn old!). One couple? I SCOFF AT YOUR ONE COUPLE! (seriously. This would take weeks to complete.)
I joined the group because I need help identifying a book, but also because it's nice to meet people who don't curl up their noses at what I'm currently reading! I felt residually guilty for loving those old dinosaurs from my childhood, but now I'm with enablers! HOORAY!
Glad to be here, hope to meet you all!

Welcome to the group Marianne! Sweet Savage Love..I remember the day it first came out,my 1st read and I loved it and the following books. Now if I read it I wonder if it would do the same? Oh well at least it would spark old memories. If you love BR you've come to the right group :)
My name is Holly, let's just say I'm thisclose to 40. I had Taco Bell for dinner last night (no judgment, hubs and I were running around trying to find flashlights. LOL). My favorite childhood memory is walking to school in Downtown Brooklyn with my sisters. My favorite place to read is in bed, but I can read anywhere. I ALWAYS have a book with me. I read all the time, and I have been known not hear the phone or bell ring when I'm in the middle of a really good book. The first romance I read was Wicked Loving Lies by Rosemary Rogers (pilfered from my Mom's bookshelf). I don't really have a favorite romance novel couple, but Forrest Gump and Jenny will always be my favorite couple ever. I joined this group so that I can talk about bodice rippers, because I LOVE them. Always have, always will.
Welcome to the group Holly! Nice to have you join us:)
And this is the place for talking about our love for a good BR:)

Hi Cathy welcome to the group! Youll find lots of great recommends here and ones to "avoid" as well :)

Started on Tender Betrayal last night and I am loving it so far.

Welcome to the group ladies!
@Mystikfire, so glad to have you.
@Beth, Sandi here is on the same boat as you are. She's dead-set against them, too. lol With good reason!
Also, check out our November - Christmas group read here, ladies. We just started, and it's a rather extended group read, so there's plenty time to locate the book(s). If you've already read them, feel free to just hop in and discuss them, or re-read them like I'm doing.

Welcome, Eve! So glad you found our little nook on the internet/Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ.com.
Why did you get into trouble? XD This group is ballsy as it pleases, so I dare say you'll find the company less likely to offend its sensitivity. LOL

There is no genuine interest in the groups she's been joining other than to promote her own book.

First of all, you have not offended me, you have annoyed me as spammers do.
Secondly, you have been spamming a large number of groups and you still do. One only has to check your profile to verify that.
Have you even taken the time to inspect what each group is about and whether it is appropriate to spam your book?
Instead of just blindly spamming I advise you to do that.
You should also at least take the time to research whether the group has a designated thread dedicated to self-promotion, and then promote your book there.
By the way, even after Sandi pointed you in the right direction you didn't take the hint.
P.S. If I have annoyed readers or moderators with my posts feel free to delete them. Nothing annoys me more than spammers do.
@ Eve I applaud that your book is one that may reach out and help an abusive/violent situation. But I have to back Jenny in her comments.
You didnt take my hint and promote your book in the correct folder..even after.
Yes you have hit ALOT of other groups(including others I have) without checking to see if 1) the group has rules to authors promoting.2)If that group has anything to do with your book.3) And the proper folder to introduce yourself and said book.
If it had been me as an author I would have done as Jenny suggested and done my research and gone to where I think I would be best received.
@ Jenny..This mod has no problems with your post as I feel it was properly addressed thank you.

Birthday: I'm a January baby, just had my 51st birthday.
What did you have for dinner last night?: I had my husband go fetch food from Sonic since I was writing. LOL
What CD/radio station(type of music) is in your car right now?: Since I worked in radio for over 20 years, I don't listen to it much now. When I do it's classic rock. I'm pretty sure there's a Led Zeppelin CD in my car's player right now.
Favorite childhood memory (briefly): When some friends of my parents' gave me a Siamese cat!
When/where do you most like to read?: Any time and everywhere.

Why did you decide to join this group?: I love BRs and I'm not ashamed, and it was great to find a group of like-minded people.

Hello, Wwarren, so happy to have you! And I'm in full agreement - before I came here, I thought I was the only one obsessed with fictional characters. XD Bodice Ripper ladies welcome you warmly! <3

Just realized I didn't finish the last two questions -
My favorite romance couple - so hard to decide! Can anyone name just one couple? Of course Lizzie and Darcy and Jaimie and Clare, but there's thousands of others, from trashy to high brow and all those in between.
Why did I join this group? To be among my people! I don't have any girl friends who love romances as much as I do, even the bookish ones. I wish people, especially women, would realize that romances can cover a vast spectrum of genres and characters and stories, not just the stereotypical idea of romance novels as Harlequins. And I love reading reviews from the "no book left behind" project!

Why did you decide to join this group?: Bodice-rippers sound right up my ally
Welcome to the group Ronatha! I would suggest checking out the bookshelf and Karla's "best of the best" Bodice Ripper List..hope you find something you like!

I am addicted to English romance novels since several years. The first romance book I remember reading is Olivia and Jai from Rebecca Ryman.
As it is more expensive to buy English books as paperback in Germany (there is not so much op-portunity to buy used English books in Germany and the postage costs are expensive if I order from Amazon US), I mostly read what is available on Kindle. It is also easier when I travel.
I have no favorite romance couple (that would impossible to decide). Probably, I like the couple of the book I am currently reading the best.
My reason to join goodreads and especially this group is that I often found discussions from this group when I googled for new books to read. As I am reading at least 2 books per week, I am always grateful for any suggestions, especially when the books are available as ebook. I also love audiobooks so if anyone knows BR’s available on Audible, please let me know. I am currently hearing Dream of Me from Josie Litton.
I am looking forward to many exciting discussions.
Nicole

I've been a lurker of this group for a couple months now. I thought it might finally be time for me to introduce myself!
Birthday: 12/26/1990
What did you have for dinner last night?: Cheese and green olive pizza.
What CD/radio station(type of music) is in your car right now?: I suppose I prefer indie music. Death cab for cutie, the kills, bright eyes, edward sharpe and the magnetic zeros to name a few.
Favorite childhood memory (briefly): My Paris vacation.
When/where do you most like to read?: Curled up on my couch after work. It helps me wind down.
First romance novel read (that you can remember): Gosh, probably one of my Mom's Jude Deveraux books. I'm going to guess it was "The Black Lyon"
Favorite romance couple: OOO...tie. Steve and Ginny (Sweet Savage Love) or maybe Storm and Wolf (Love Cherish Me).
Why did you decide to join this group?: I adore the un-pc bodice rippers. The emotions are so intense. The men are such alpha-jerks. Historical romance is my favorite! I love it all. It's also all my Mom had on her bookshelf growing up ;) Today's heros just don't quite do it for me.
Hi Katie welcome to the group!I wonder how many moms know that their daughters "borrowed" their books LOL!
She had some good ones for sure for you to start with:)
Hope you find many more here.

Hi Everyone,
I have been enjoying this group but haven't introduced myself because I honestly am not "out of the closet" when it comes to reading romance novels and especially BR!
I do confess that I love them and the more tormented the hero and heroine are, the more I enjoy it.
Birthday: 1972
What did you have for dinner last night?: Meatloaf, veggies, mashed potatoes & cheesecake.
What CD/radio station(type of music) is in your car right now?: country at the moment I think.
Favorite childhood memory (briefly): swimming with cousins & extended family.
When/where do you most like to read?: At work (lucky me in down time) or at home when the kids and husband go to sleep.
First romance novel read (that you can remember): Jackie Collins, my best friend and I read all her mother's books! I knew too much for 12.
Favorite romance couple: Miss Elizabeth & Mr. Darcy
Why did you decide to join this group?:
To find more BR of course!

When/where do you most like to read?:On the bus/train, just randomly during the day
First romance novel read (that you can remember):well my first was a really terrible thing called 'The Scarlet Temptress' which I picked up at a second hand store because I recognised it (by the cover) as being the romance novel Kajol is reading on the train in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. but the first one I LOVED was SWEET SAVAGE LOVE by Rosemary Rogers.
Favorite romance couple: Steve & Ginny
Why did you decide to join this group?: because I love bodice rippers, and am sick of seeing them slated by modern romance fans!
