A theme/characteristic I can think of that might influence what someone wants to read is "Character Death."
For that shelf, I would suggest Skye O'Malley and All the Sweet Tomorrows.

By "Character Death" do you mean that in those books one of the main characters die? Am I understanding that right?

Yes. I'd give examples, but then they'd be spoilers. :D

Gottcha. Ok I will add that as a shelf.

I also like
Marriage of convenience
Sheikh/Harem
The different time periods: Elizabethan, Victorian, Antebellum, etc.
Kidnapped/Captive
'Hero violent to heroine' is another good one
Ok! This is a good start! So far for shelves I have:
kidnapping/abduction
main character dies
marriage of convenience
medieval
no cheating
no forced seduction
5 stars
pirate
regency
revenge
no multiple partners
elizabethan
victorian
antebellum
gregorian
hero violent to heroine
I added the books that have been mentioned here (I think I got them all) and some from our other threads. I have set the group bookshelf so that any of our group members can add books so I invite all of you to add some of your favorites here!
Any other ideas for shelves that should be added??? Have a favorite theme you would like to see listed? Other ideas of how to use the group bookshelf?

Hi Jennefer
Your idea here is great. Listing common themes on BR will really make it easy to sift through books while looking for a particular something.
In Pamela's post, she suggested Revenge as a theme. I just finished The Wildest Heart by Rosemary Rogers, and Revenge theme will fit this book perfect. Or, regarding this book, how about the theme - Lust Gone Mad Soap Opera?

OK, am I dense? (Don't answer that.) I followed the link, but can't find out how to add books. In the upper left corner, it says only moderators can add books?

LOL No I think I am the one that is dense! I think I fixed it now... hopefully :) Let me know.

I think that should be a new shelf, because looking at the backs of many of the books I have, that "sold into slavery" thing seems to pop up a lot

That makes 2 of us. I'm unshockable. Except, you know, naked Hasselhoff molesting innocent puppies.

- Series (for those who may or may not want to become addicted to a series)
- Amnesia
- Engagement of convenience.

LOL You are too funny Karla :)
I think I am unshockable too (well I might be shocked but I can get over it pretty quick and enjoy some pretty messed up stuff in my fiction)! I like the slavery theme :)

Ha ha...well, it appears as though I'm unshockable as well when it comes to my fiction. So, add me to that list as well.

Hurrah! It's nice to say, "I love a good sold into slavery story" and not get looked at like you're a freak. :P In an office packed full of chicklit readers, I keep my tastes on the very down low.

I like that idea. I added a "lust gone mad" shelf. :)
Our shelves are looking good everybody! Keep them coming!!!

I just added a "same sex content" shelf, since I've read several books so far with guy on guy or girl on girl (either referred to or explicit).

Gabaldon isn't a bodice ripper, though. Though there are probably similar reunions in BRs.
The bookshelf is looking pretty nice! I added a Kindle shelf as well. Let's keep it growing, when you read a BR be sure to add it to our group bookshelf here.
I added a "misleading cover" shelf, thinking that Flowers of Fire qualified and any other book might where you read it and think, "Where's the romance? Where's the bodice ripping?"

I've added a bunch more to the Group Bookshelf by looking at what I have on my shelves. Of course they're all subject to change once I or another of us reads them and discovers if the cover is false advertising! :P

I need help finding a book and am hoping that this group can help me. I read it a long time ago and want to reread it and it is driving me crazy that I cannot remember what the title is.
Here are the things that I remember about the book:
It is historical. The hero is jealous and possessive. He is a manwhore before meeting the heroine. The hero sees her and thinks that the heroine is a prostitute. He has her taken to his room or someone sees her and thinks that he would like her. The hero gets drunk and forced seduction/rape occurs. She of course is not a lady of the evening but rather a virgin. He kidnaps her and takes her on his ship. Hot sexy times commence. She is sexually attracted to him and wants him but is understandably livid and tries to escape numerous times. Finally she succeeds. There is a separation whereas both are celibate. She starts a restaurant with another woman, possibly a salon girl/prostitute. Hero looses it and tries to find her. He is obsessed with finding her. After looking a long time the hero finds her. He grovels and will do anything to have her in his life. She might of had his child, I cannot remember. She eventually forgives him. The admit that they love each other HEA .
Any feedback is appreciated.
Thanks Kat
Hi Kat,
You can copy/paste your post into a new topic on this discussion board.
I don't know what book that could be. So many elements are common tropes! The restaurant bit is a standout detail, though. Hopefully it will ring a bell to someone.
