I feel like I'm dating myself with some of these choices. I swear I don't have grey hair, y'all.... I just started young. :D This is just more reasons I need exposure to newer or new-to-me authors (rather proud I had Nalini up there). Confession: I stopped reading romance for a couple years because I was getting disillusioned with what was getting published at the time. But this website and forum is slowly getting me back! Okay, I'll stop rambling now.

Lychee, I stopped reading historical romances for the same reason, for a long time, and I'm nearing burnout on paranormal romances. Forgive yourself and enjoy what you do read... we're not the romance police (LOL).

Judging by your list, I'd suggest Nora Roberts, and the older stuff of Elizabeth Lowell (before she got so heavily into suspense).

I am hearing you,if you look back at my all time favs on my shelves you will see I have completly diff books than those I listed.
I not only get bored after awile with the genre I am glomming(can`t stop I`m an addict)but also the series in the genre,the early ones are almost always better than the later ones.I think that is our fault for pushing on the authors to keep writing them,we never give them a break !

Publishing companies want more of what's selling, and offer authors advances based on that. The authors like getting paid, so there you are. Good authors have no problem keeping the series fresh, look at J.D. Robb's mysteries! I guess there is a limited pool of really good authors, and we read so much that we get down into the second and third tiers if we're not careful.

That's why I pay special attention to the average ratings a book has been given before trying it... (I prefer 3.5 or higher on 20 or more reviews or 4.0 for fewer than 20 reviews).
