Lisarenee | 7659 comments I gave up TV last year. Now instead of watching TV in the evening I usually have my nose in a book. Have you ever done a search on people in goodreads? There is an option to see who reads the most. There are some people who have read twice as many books me this year. Can you imagine?

Lisarenee | 7659 comments 200)Midnight Rising (Midnight Breed, #4) by Lara Adrian
I really enjoy this series. While on vacation abroad Dylan Alexander comes across Rio after his wife's ghost leads her to him asking she "save him". He is still recovering from his injuries and the ordeal which was caused when his wife decided to ally herself with his enemy. The breed is the offspring of Vampire aliens. Breedmates are human women who carry the genetic DNA to breed with these alien men and their offspring. They also carry a skin birth mark shaped like a crescent moon with a tear drop.

****Spoilers*
In this book we find out one of the Ancient Aliens did not parish, but went into hibernation and is now being used to breed Gen One (First Generation) vampires. While the Order works to keep human kind safe there are some who do not and the fear is this new generation is being raised to take over what some feel should be theirs.

201)Silent Truth (B.A.D. Series, #4) by Sherrilyn Kenyon, Dianna Love
This is part of Kenyon's series Bureau of American Defense. BAD is an secret government agency that technically doesn't exist (but really does). It adheres to no red tape and gets whatever needs done when it needs to be done. I thought the series so far fun to read, but this is the best one I've read to date. I absolutely loved it. It kept my attention and had me wondering what was happening next. Very enjoyable read. And, if your wondering you can read this on as a stand alone book. I don't think you'd get lost.

Lisarenee | 7659 comments 202)Dime Store Magic (Women of the Otherworld, #3)
by Kelley Armstrong (Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ Author)
In this book Paige Winterbourne attempts to take her place as the head of the American Coven of witches and deal with the demands of dealing with a teenage witch (Savannah) who is coming into her powers. An unforeseen problem complicates matters when a sorcerer claims he is Savannah's father. Now two battles ensue one to see who will have custody of Savannah and the other to see who will control the coven. Throw in another Sorcerer who wishes to help Paige in her battle for custody and things get pretty interesting. Can Paige trust Lucas or not? Loved this one.

203)Industrial Magic (Women of the Otherworld, #4)
by Kelley Armstrong (Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ Author)
In this book children of Cabal employees are being murdered. Cabals are the businesses/corporations that are owned by the most powerful sorcerer families out there. Paige and Lucas are hired to help investigate the murders . Liked seeing Paige deal with Lucas' father. Lucas, by the way, is the son and heir to the man in charge of oldest Cabals and Witches and Sorcerers don't usually get along.

by Tessa Dare
Loving Tessa Dare's books. This one involves a Lord who goes back home after serving in the military. Rhys means to right the wrongs caused by his father when he abandoned the estate and those whose livelihood depended upon it. When he sees Meredith he decides she is his fate and goes about trying to convince her to believe it as well. Gaining the trust of the town and the hand of Meredith is not an easy task, but the best things in life are always worth the extra effort. Very cute and fun read.

Lisarenee | 7659 comments 205)Haunted (Women of the Otherworld, #5) by Kelley Armstrong
Will add review later.

206)Broken (Women of the Otherworld, #6) by Kelley Armstrong
Was so glad to have this series wind back to the werewolves. Feel like I revisited some friends I hadn't seen in awhile. This tale starts off with
with Elena pregnant and somewhat bored. When the Demon from Stolen (must look up his name) calls in the favor that was promised. Elena jumps at the chance to add a little excitement to her life. Unfortunately, opening up a portal to another time which could possibly contain Jack the Ripper was not at all what she expected. Now trying to keep herself and her baby from harm becomes a major concern as she now appears to be stalked by those who came out of the portal. Fun read.

207)Staccato by Deborah J. Ledford
Enter the world of Nicholas Kalman. He's in love, his career as a concert pianist is flourishing, and seems to have it all. His world is shattered in one night when he finds the dead body of his girlfriend in the back of his car. Confused, grieving, and not at all thinking clearly he panics and sets into motion events that will change his life and those around him forever.

208)Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins
The final ending to a wonderful series. Perhaps a little heavy for tweens, but it's been working it's way there through the series. A month after Catching Fire ended Katniss stands in what was once her home district. Razed to the ground. Not all were lost as Gale's quick thinking saved a small portion of the district. Thankfully, Katniss' family was included in the survivors. The fate of certain individuals is unknown. Katniss is still recovering and the Rebellion has only just begun. Now Katniss must decide if she is willing to become the Mockingjay. The voice that leads her people to a better life.

209)Infinity (Chronicles of Nick, #1)by Sherrilyn Kenyon
When I first saw the cover of this book I assumed it would be a graphic novel. Silly, silly me. I don't know where I got that thought in my head. This book is about how Nick became Kyrian's squire. How they met, how Ash met Nick, and how Nick got caught up in the Dark-Hunter world. It definitely explains the problems grown-up Nick is experiencing. Nick is 14 and being bullied at his school. Wearing clothes from thrift stores in the trendy school is bound to get you noticed for the wrong reasons. He's a scholarship student going to a high priced school. His mom, an exotic dancer, has been raising him by herself. She was kicked out by her parents when she decided to keep Nick. Cherise is described as a down on her luck saint. Nick and she only have each other. When Nick makes the wrong choice one night, his short life almost comes to an end until Kyrian comes to his rescue. If you love the Dark-Hunters this is a must have.

Lisarenee | 7659 comments 210)Hush Money (Talent Chronicles #1)by Susan Bischoff (Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ Author)

It's hard enough being a normal teen in Highschool, but when you have a "Talent" that you need to hide it's even tougher. About a group of teens with "Talents"- special abilities that most would refer to as superpowers. Only having a Talent in this town really isn't so super. Kids are hauled off by an agency called NIAC (National Institute for Ability Control) to be taken to a State School. None of the kids taken are ever seen or heard from again. Rumor has it the taken Talents are being abused.

Enter the world of Jocelyn (Joss for short). Trying to stay under the radar and keep to herself. Sometimes, however, life doesn't always work out as you plan, and through a series of unfortunate events she finds herself being offered silence in exchange for some Hush Money.

A very fun and enjoyable read.

Lisarenee | 7659 comments 211)The Pleasure Slave by Gena Showalter

This was such a fun and romantic read. Julia is an antique dealer. While making a trip to a flea market in search of more wares she comes across a decorative jewelry box. When she gets home she begins cleaning it and out pops an gorgeous intimidating man with a sword. He's clad only in tight fitting black pants promising to fulfill her every fantasy. Instead of taking Tristan up on his offer she proposes he teach her how to seduce other men. That's when things get interesting.

212) If He's Wild by Hannah Howell
This is the first book I've read by Howell and it's sure not to be my last. Absolutely loved it. About a family with many interesting gifts/curses. They are clairvoyant, healers, and can sometimes see dead people (Yikes!).

Lady Alethea Vaughn Channing has visions. Since the age of 5 she's had glimpses into the life of a man she's never met. She has no idea why. On this particular day, however, she has a vision of his future. If she cannot convince him of her gift he will be dead within a month. She seeks the help of her uncle to help her identify and find the man in her visions. Showing her uncle her sketches they set forth on a mission to save Lord Hartley Greville from his fate. Very fun, romantic, and unique read.

Very cute story. Saxon and Pitney are twins. When Saxon dreams her brother has been killed she hopes it was just a nightmare. When her cousins come they confirm her fears. She goes off to avenge her brother's death armed with the knowledge that she knows her brother's killer. She finds the man she seeks only to find he wasn't the murderer and her brother isn't dead. That's when things getting interesting and fun.

Going to have to get into the discussion on this book. I may need a little time to digest the book. About Meridian, a teenager, who has been different from other people her whole life. Things tend to die around her. On her 16th birthday she comes home from school and narrowly misses being hit by a car. The kids behind her were not so lucky. Her parents send her off to her aunt's with not much explanation. They tell her they might never see her again and she must go for her own safety. They tell her her aunt will explain all and that she is the only one who can help her. They also tell her not to come back because they will no longer be there.

Lisarenee | 7659 comments Lady X's Cowboy???????? Hmmmmm.... I see that's another Zoe Archer book. I will need to look out for her books. Must say that is an interesting title. Also, I noticed there is a Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ giveaway for one of her books.

Sans I know, right? I had to get it for the title alone, but it sounds interesting too. I also ordered a used copy of a book called The Captain's Doxy. I mean, how can you not read a book with a title like that?

message 28: by Lisarenee (new)

Lisarenee | 7659 comments Yes, Sans I must admit sometimes I get a book for the title alone. Probably not the best way to pick a book, but sometimes you really can't resist.

message 29: by Sans (new)

Sans Wanna go for uber shallow? I sometimes pick up a book strictly based on the man-titty on the cover.

message 30: by Lisarenee (new)

Lisarenee | 7659 comments Sans, I am shocked and appalled by your confession. I can not believe anyone would buy a book for such scandalous reason. lol Did I mention I'm glad I'm not Pinocchio?

Lauren | 931 comments Wow Lisa... Sans I think I'd probably do the same thing :)

Lisarenee | 7659 comments 215)Web of Lies (Elemental Assassin) by Jennifer Estep

Second book of Elemental Assassin series. Still loving this series and will need to buy the third book that comes out this month, Venom. Gin is now attempting to retire from being an assassin. When a couple of teenagers attempt to hold up her restaurant she puts her skills to good use and stops the robbery. Problem is one of the teens is the son of a powerful attorney and staying under the radar just became a whole lot more difficult. To compound matters, she is approached by a customer hoping to hire an assassin through Fletcher. At first she just tells her Fletcher, Gin's former handler, is no longer around and attempts to end the conversation there. When someone attempts to kill the girl trying to hire her, however, she decided to help the girl.

216)The Duke by Gaelen Foley
Must read more of Foley's book. A very good love story. I'm going to give it a 5 out of 5. About a young women whose fallen on hard times. A suitor she rejected tries to force her to marry him by getting her father arrested. Having no other relatives to ask for help she attempts to support herself by working at a girls school only to have the rejected suitor get her fired. She attempts to do all in her power to keep from starving and starts selling oranges on the street corner. During a trip to the prison to visit her father she unwittingly reveals that she has no other family to the warden and lets his driver take her home. Later that night he goes to visit her and rapes her. Knowing she is no longer safe and her virtue gone she does what she feels is the only thing left for her and searches for a protector. Very touching love story.

217) Mr. Perfect by Linda Howard
Didn't realize this one was a romance murder mystery. About a group of women who create a list of traits for their ideal man (aka Mr. Perfect). When one of the women reveals the list to a coworker, it makes the company news letter. From there it gets leaked to the press. While the list is funny to some others take it as a slap in the face to their manhood. One person in particular takes it personal and set out to teach the four a deadly lesson. Very suspenseful read with a twist. Loved it.

218) Halfway to the Grave by Jeaniene Frost
About a 22 year old woman who at age 16 found out she was half vampire. Has some of their traits, but no fangs and she sports a normal heartbeat. Her mom was raped by a vampire and five months later Cat was born. Attempting to please her mother she sets about killing any vampires she comes across using herself as bait. Then one night she comes across a master vampire and her life is forever changed as her beliefs about vampires and herself are thrown into question. Loved it. Very fun read.

Lisarenee | 7659 comments 220) Natural Born Charmer by Susan Elizabeth Phillips
Very fun read. About a Blue whose fallen on hard times. Her mom has just cleaned out her savings account. The guys she moved to Colorado to be with just dumped her for another woman. To make matters worse in a desperate attempt to earn more money she decided to dress up as a beaver to advertise the local lumber yard. Her ride to take her home from the interstate where she was working hasn't shown, leaving her stranded in the uncomfortable costume. Along comes a bored professional football player who is amused by the scene of Blue in her beaver costume and offers her a lift. Very fun story.

221) One Foot in the Grave by Jeaniene Frost
This books takes place four years after Halfway to the grave. Cat is now working for the government to eliminate deadly vampires. Her latest victim, however, turns out to be the vamp that turned Bones. Feeling emotional and sentimental at the discovery, she lets him go. She second guesses her decision later when a message is left at her childhood home which says, "here kitty kitty". Could he be seeking revenge? Very fun read.

Sashana Everywhere I 'turn' on goodreads I hear about this Sherrilyn Kenyon. I need to read something by her ASAP.

message 43: by Sans (new)

Sans Whatever you do, don't start with Fantasy Lover. I made that mistake and I was finally able to overcome it almost two years later.

message 44: by Sashana (new)

Sashana Thanks Sans. I plan to start with Infinity. Did you read it yet?

message 45: by Sans (new)

Sans Not yet. I got it from the library but didn't get to it before it was due. I read In Other Worlds instead and now I can't decide if I should start with the Dark-Hunter books I have or her League series.

Lisarenee | 7659 comments 225)Rabbit: Chasing Beth Rider by Ellen C. Maze
Very unusual and thought provoking Christian based book. About Beth Rider, a best selling author. While at a book signing a scary and mysterious man approaches her and tells her to "Watch your back". A day or so later he is in her hotel room forcing her to become a "Rabbit" - a toy for for his kind - vampires. Most authors have probably gotten their fair share of hate mail, but this is a little extreme.

226)Faithful Place by Tana French
Twenty-Two years ago Frank Mackie and his girlfriend made plans to leave Faithful Place. The plan was to meet at the end of the road at midnight and then travel on to London. Rosie never showed. After two hours he went in search of her. He found a note he assumed was for him. After waiting until early morning, in case she changed her mind, Frank left. Rosie was never heard from again.

Jump forward to 2007. Rosie's suitcase has been found in an abandoned building. Frank, now a cop, has been called by his sister who notifies him of the find. Hoping to never see the place again, Frank is drawn back to Faithful Place to discover what happened.

Loved it. French has a way of weaving a tale that makes you get swept up in the current of it.

227)The Thirteenth Chime by Emma Michaels
While on break from college Destiny and Stephanie take a trip to the West coast to spend time at a house Stephanie's mom is renovating. Before even spending one night in the house Stephanie and her Mom are viciously attacked. It all happened after the thirteenth chime of an antique grandfather clock. Destiny witnessed the whole event, but can't come to grips with what she saw and is afraid no one will believe her. She calls her ex hoping he can help. Looking for clues to the house's past in the small town where nobody wants to talk about it is not easy. Slowly David unravels the mystery, but will it be too late for Destiny? Kept me guessing what was going on.

228)Destined for an Early Grave by Jeaniene Frost
Cat and Bones hit a little bump when another vampire, Gregor, claims to be Cat's true husband. He says he married her when she was 16 and was imprisoned by Mencheres shortly after. He says Cat's mind was erased by Mencheres and that is why she has no recollection of the marriage. Plus, Gregor is now spreading rumors of Cat wanting to become a ghoul. Stating she wants to combine the best of a vampire and a ghoul in herself and become potentially one of the most powerful undead that's ever been seen. As if being the Reaper couldn't get a gal kill this new rumor just might.

229)Lord of Fire by Gaelen Foley
Will write review later.

230)The Devil Wears Plaid by Teresa Medeiros
I got this book for free via a goodreads giveaway and am so glad. I found a new name to add to my list of favorite romance authors.

Emmaline (Emma) is about to be married. Her bridegroom, well, let's just say he would NOT be most women's first choice, or second, or... (yeah, you get the picture). In order to get her family out of debt she's agreed to wed an old laird who needs to produce an heir and a spare. Slowly making her way down the isle she hears comments being made, tries to imagine how she always pictured this day would be , and dutifully, but reluctantly makes her way to the alter. As she gets ready to say her vows the doors to the church burst open and in rides Sin (Jamie Sinclair), the enemy of her soon to be husband. While most people steal a kiss from the bride, Sin steals the bride and holds her for ransom. With Sin being everything her fiance is not, remaining SINless is not easy. Very fun read.

231)Stray by Rachel Vincent
Female werecats are disappearing. A Stray werecat attempted to kidnap Faythe. Now her dad's asking her to come home for her own safety. Faythe isn't one to take confinement well and having her ex in close proximity doesn't make it any easier. Loved it!

232)The Crowded Shadows by Celine Kiernan
Wynter armed with her newly found information is in search of Alberon. Luckily, she runs into Chris and Razi on the way. The trio team up and danger seems everywhere. They must avoid the dangerous group who enslaved Christopher while making their way to Alberon's camp. Christopher must face his inner demons and friendship is tested. Very fun read. Can't wait to read the next in the trilogy.

Lisarenee | 7659 comments 233)My Favorite Bride by Christina Dodd

She is a former cut-purse. He is a rule loving Captain. She needs the governess position. His kids can't seem to keep a governess around. If opposites attract then it's no wonder these two end together. Very cute.

234) Three Nights with a Scoundrel by Tessa Dare

Was very pleasantly surprised by this one. Don't you just love it when an author makes a character seem beyond redemption and then you come to understand and love them? Dare does just that in this book. He's the biggest rake in London. His exploits are renowned. His one weakness? Lily. He would never do anything to taint her. She wants only to help him deal with the pain of her brother's (his best friend's) death. So a deal is struck and she has three nights to bring him back from the brink of self destruction. Loved it.

235) Beauty And The Black Sheep by Jessica Bird aka J.R. Ward

Very fun read. He's a chef. She's a Bed & Breakfast owner. Her cook has just quit. His car's just broke down. She's decided to not give in to the temptation that he presents. He has other plans. Very fun read.

236>The Wicked House of Rohan by Anne Stuart

Sans recommended this one and when I started reading this one I wondered,"Oh my, what has Sans got me reading?" But as I know Sans knows my tastes I read on and loved it. About a down on her luck governess who applies for a position only to find the position she is offered is not at all what was advertised. May have to check out the rest of this series. Noticed yesterday all three books of the series are already on Wal-Mart shelves. I thought the one didn't come out till October. Thanks Sans for the recommendation. Still a little nervous about the series, but hopefully it'll be good.
