My TBR only has books I own or have borrowed from the library, I think there a reabout 35 on there. I have a Caught my Eye shelf for books I like the look of, and a Pending shelf for books I want to read. Unfortunately the books I own are not necessarily the ones I want to read LOL. However in an attempt to clear the shelf I'm willing to havae a go at this challenge. So I'll maybe list the books as I go along and watch my TBR reduce,hopefully.

Finished Mrs. Pollifax on the China Station today.
From the back cover:

Posing as a tourist in China, Mrs Pollifax meets the sinister challenges of the Orient to safe-guard a treasure for the CIA ...and all but loses her life in the bargain."
I really enjoyed this comic spy-mystery novel. Mrs Pollifax is a CIA agent with a difference. She is a white-haired lady in her 60s, with a brown belt in karate, who is both charming and resourceful. The book is full of well-drawn characters and there are vivid descriptions of China. My only criticism is that I found one or two of the characters irritating but this did not spoil my overall enjoyment of the book.

It has been a long time since I read a book that literally took my breath away but this one did. I felt every human emotion when reading this wonderful love story. 5*+

Carol I think I need to read Comanche Moon, I have heard so many things about it.
Katherine - YOU MUST READ IT. I cannot recommend it enough. Beware, the author does not shy away from the realty of the atrocities committed by both the white settlers and the Comanche and there are some brutal scenes. For me, this realism only added to the emotional impact of the book.

- 'The Quiet Man' starring John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara is one of my all time favourite movies. This book written by a fan, contains a miscellany of facts about the music, locations, bit part actors and costumes together with lots of trivia. There are lots of candid photos from behind the scenes and stills from the film. A must for anyone who loves this movie.

As always, Mary Higgins Clark does not disappoint. An intricate plot, plenty of suspects, red herrings galore, a few murders and a heroine in danger make this a great read.

Carol, believe me you are not the oldest teanager to read it. I went with a bunch of girlfriends to the Eclipse premiere and there were people of all ages. I myself have a daughter 23 and she was with us. LOL It's a fun series.

I don't know if anyone else agrees with me, but I have found the years I spent in school (elementary through college) seemed the longest. I thought I'd never graduate and just be done with school. Then I spent years working, got married, having kids. With all three finally in school I actually have time to reflect and wonder where the heck the time went. It still seems like I graduated a year ago from college and I still picture myself that age in my head.

I know exactly what you mean. My son was 30 last birthday and it only seems like yesterday that he was just a toddler. When I think that my husband and I have been married 37 years, it makes me realise just how quickly time has flown.
Agree Lisarenee and Carol, time has just flown. I was offered a part time job at my children's school to work with the preschool. I had to turn it down. I need this time for me now. LOL I'm the librarian at the school and that takes enough time though I enjoy it a lot. It's nice to be at home and everyone else at work or school.

- As an older reader, I was not sure how I would feel about this book but I really enjoyed it. I thought it was a beautiful love story between two people who had to contend with more than the usual teenage hormones. I also liked the very different spin on the usual vampire legend. I shall definitely read the other books in the series.

- a beautiful and touching book. Sean Hepburn Ferrer's deep love for his mother is evident on every page. He tells her story with dignity and respect. I really got to know the real Audrey Hepburn, someone who was beautiful not only on the outside but also on the inside.
I'm doing 12 books and so far I've read:
Read from August 06 to 07, 2010 - This was the first book that I ever read by Nora Roberts and I was not impressed. I wanted to see what all the hype about Nora Roberts was since she has like a million books and Lifetime movies. I hated how Taylor treated B.J. He was constantly patronizing her and he is way too dominating for my liking. And B.J was too naïve, no one over the age of 15 is that stupid to be honest. She wanted to be treated like an adult but she acted like a child 95% of the book. And that was the most unromantic marriage proposal I’ve ever read about. Nevertheless, I gave this book three stars because I love reading chick-lit.

Read from August 13 to 14, 2010- This book was ok, it had the potential to get 3 stars from me but I wasn’t feeling very generous. I feel like a lot of YA Paranormal Romance books are becoming more repetitive. In some ways this book reminded me of Twilight. I hate that the author made the characters fall in instantaneous love. I really think that YA authors need to stop doing this. They need to stop pulling the “Girl meets boy, boy meets girl and BAM! They fall in love.� They characters in this book needed to be developed more. It’s as simple as that. I did like the storyline though. I like the idea of a regular human having a werewolf pack.Five down, seven more to go.

I'm not doing so good on this one. I've been mostly reading my booksfree books because all my books are packed up. I've had some arrive from various trading sites and managed to get 2 book boxes out. So I'm going to make myself read a couple of TBR books before I read anymore booksfree books (after I finish the one I'm reading now).

I started 4 other books for this challenge and I didn't even finish them. What is booksfree if you don't mind me asking?

- enjoyed the first part of this book very much and really became absorbed in the characters of Liberty and Hardy. However, I found the second half rather disappointing because I could not seem to connect with Gage. I thought the scenes between Liberty and Hardy in the first half were emotionally intense but the scenes between Liberty and Gage seemed to be all about sex.

Everyone on good reads has a to read list, some of them longer than others. But somehow, we never actually get around to reading them. This challenge is designed to cure this problem. Rules: Select 12 books from your list and read them in the next 30 days. This will average about 3 books per week. The Challenge starts NOW! At the end of each book please post them on this forum and tell us if you liked or disliked them and why. Please be sure to post you start and finish date for each book.
If you find 12 books are too much for 30 days, then you can also read 9 books. This challenge starts on August 1st and will end on August 31st. All books read prior to August 1st will not be counted in this challenge.
