Karendenice Cat 1: In Cold Blood by Truman Capote sounds great and is one that has been on my to-read list for awhile now.

I've been wanting to read it ever since I saw the movie.

Oh blast! I knew that would happen!

Hmmm...how about

Cat 2: The Age of Innocence by Edith Wharton

(I hope that's not a duplicate too. I couldn't find it on the group read shelf, though I may have missed it!)

Thanks, Turner!

Ok, Polls are open, go ahead and start voting.

Voting will close Tuesday morning. You can vote once per category.

Great job with the submissions this month everyone!

message 63: by Mita (new)

Mita (mitab) Lori, The entry for Madeleine is Sleeping and Shanghai Girls are bunched into one choice instead of two different books. Thought you might wanna change that!

message 65: by Kaion (last edited Aug 21, 2010 10:12AM) (new)

Kaion (kaionvin) I nominated Orlando for Category 1 (since Virginia Woolf was already represented in Category 2).

I apologize, but it seems I am unable to move it now. There is one vote against it. SorrY!

message 67: by Joanie (new)

Joanie | 714 comments Funny that the top two books in both categories both got 15 and 14 votes each. Close races! Can't wait for Fingersmith

The Winners are::::

Reg Fic/Non Fic - THE REMAINS OF THE DAY
Woman Author - FINGERSMITH

Congrats to the winners!! Look forward to seeing what everyone has to say when the folders open on Sept 1st!

We are also adding a 3rd book to the group read list for the month of September - THE ART OF DEVOTION. It was a 10 book giveaway I hosted that will be discussed here with surprise appearances by the author! Even if you didn't win a copy, you can still join us for the discussion!

message 69: by Julie (new)

Julie (readerjules) Only three days to vote? I missed it. I would have made poll #1 a tie.

Ron (ronh) | 26 comments Julie wrote: "Only three days to vote? I missed it. I would have made poll #1 a tie."

I missed it also; Lori did say Tuesday morning (I thought it was end of the day) but did not give an actual time (or time zone). I was leaning toward Capote also which, between our two votes, would have made a bit of a difference!

message 71: by Heather L (new)

Heather L (wordtrix) It did seem like the voting period was much shorter this month. I for one would have liked to see your votes boost Capote to the top!

Sorry guys, I got a late start with the noms, and had to cut the voting as well....

message 73: by Karina (new)

Karina next month guys we'll vote Capote in!

message 74: by Emily (new)

Emily O (readingwhilefemale) | 140 comments That's the book by a woman author that won? I was kind of hoping for an awesome classic of a book that would convince people to read more books by women. And I've already read something of hers for my blog too. Darn.

message 75: by Alex (new)

Alex Cat. 2and 1: Agatha Christie Murder in Mesopotamia

message 76: by Lori, Super Mod (new)

Lori (tnbbc) | 10547 comments Mod
huh? Alex, the group reads are already chosen, as you can see by the title of the thread.

Also, if nominations were open, you could only nominate for one category.

message 77: by Gabriella (new)

Gabriella (stardust_126) | 429 comments cat 1- The Story of My Life by Helen Keller

message 78: by El (new)

El Gabriella, as Lori wrote in the post right before yours... the group reads for September are already done. If you go to the polls (top right of the TNBBC page) you can vote for which book you want to read during October. We're already reading the September wins.
