Finland: Your Presence Is Requested at Suvanto: A Novel by Maile Chapman
Iceland: Ice Land by Betsy Tobin and The Sagas of Icelanders (no author)
Russia: anything by Tolstoy and Dostoevsky
Sweden: Let the Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist and the Millennium trilogy (Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, etc) by Stieg Larsson

Norway: Out Stealing Horses
Denmark: To Siberia (maybe Siberia, too, I don't know, haven't read it)
Albania: Broken April (if you really must, it was a pretty awful book)
Bosnia/ Herzegovina: The Cellist of Sarajevo
Spain: The Sun Also Rises

It was written by Zlata Filipovic in 1994 when she was 11 years old, about her experiences living through the war in Sarajevo.
For teachers too, this would be great to compare/contrast with Diary of Anne Frank.

Bulgaria - Ballad for Georg Henig. It's a lovely book, if you're able to find it.
Slovenia - Paulo Coelho's Veronika Decides to Die takes place there.

France: Les Miserables and The Hunchback of Notre Dame by Victor Hugo, I will Repay and Sir Percy Leads the Band and The League of the Scarlet Pimpernel by Baroness Orczy, The Forbidden Rose by Joanna Bourne, The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas
UK: Outlander by Diana Gabaldon, anything by Georgette Heyer (historical romance, mystery), The Fashion Police by Sibel Hodge (chick-lit mystery)
Austria: The Reluctant Heiress by Eva Ibbotson (YA)
Italy: The Agony and the Ecstasy by Irving Stone
