Thanks Dimrose. I did put a post in "Looking for GR friend" discussion. But, the reason I put both these questions here was that they were general problems not related to a particular book. I can repost them to the specific task, if you want me to.
Just never realized that people do not rate the books they read, I guess.

These two books have been determined already by voting. You still have time to vote in the run-off for the third book - click on the link that says "polls" and you'll see the poll for the 3rd book.

yes, as Dee said, there is one task, 20.10, that requires that you read one of the group reads books and post in the discussion thread for that book.

Hi, this is my first time trying The Seasonal Reading Challenge, and I'm just curious as to how you know the number of points each task is worth. Is it the number before the period? For example, task 5.8, is it worth 5 points? Thanks!

That's correct, Marie. There are 10 5-point tasks, 10 10-pointers, and 10 15-point tasks. This time around, we have 7 30-point tasks and, so far, 3 25-point tasks. There may be more 25-point tasks if more people finish the current challenge by midnight tomorrow. There are also 10 20-point tasks that will be coming in the next week or so. The people who create those tasks are not identified until the end of the current challenge. You can read more about how they are chosen in the Rewards of the Challenge thread. Welcome to the challenge and happy reading!

No, you can only use a book once in a challenge.

No scrabble task that I know of, but it's a cool idea!

My task for third place in the Reading with Style Challenge is a scrabble task. Do you do that challenge, too?

For example, the book I am reading for the task is called Wizard of London by Mercedes Lackey so my scrabble letters are W,O, L M L. I can spell the word low so I can read that book for the challenge.

OK cool, here's a rebuttal question. If I listen to the audiobook for the spring challenge, can I use the paper book in the summer challenge (pending it fits a topic of course)?

I do the SRC, Reading With Style, and I do the Historical Fiction challenge in the HF group I am in. Plus I added the challenge in the YA group I am in. I am really organized. I keep lists for each challenge and I can usually fit a book into at least two challenges.

Jayme(the ghost reader) wrote: "So after counting the task points+the 50 point challenge, I got 685 total points for the Spring challenge. Is that correct?"
5 pt X 10= 50
10 pt X 10= 100
15 pt X 10= 150
20 pt X 10= 200
25 pt X 6= 150
30 pt X 7= 210
50 pt X 1= 50
54 tasks= 910 pts
5 pt X 10= 50
10 pt X 10= 100
15 pt X 10= 150
20 pt X 10= 200
25 pt X 6= 150
30 pt X 7= 210
50 pt X 1= 50
54 tasks= 910 pts

You may choose to reread a book in the next challenge if it fits a task

Should be six, once we get all the tasks in.

If there is no page number for the audiobook, use the rule that applies to ebooks: use the page count for the mass market paperback if one exists. If there is no mass market paperback edition, use the paperback edition and if no paperback is available use the hardback edition.

It says 11 pages, but that's how many discs there are, so I don't think that's correct. I will just use the ebook count.

Audiobook page numbers are supposed to be the number of hours the audiobook runs. So definitely don't use the page number for the audio format.

Cindy AL wrote: "I've wondered this for awhile. When posting, how many tasks do the mods prefer that we post - one at a time, 3-4 at a time, etc? Is any way easier than any other?"
Kristi's handling the readerboard this time, so she can indicate what she'd prefer.
What I found was that it didn't matter so much, as long as the posting was clear - space left between each task, etc. It becomes more of a problem when tasks are run together with too much info given (for instance, copying the complete task description into the post along with all the examples that were provided). This can make it really hard to find what's actually being claimed!

I'd agree with Sandy. The number of tasks claimed doesn't matter nearly as much as making sure you've included all the requirements and have clearly stated what's being claimed (and how it fits the task if it's not obvious).

We already have a 30.6
should that be 25.6?

Thanks!

Do you want me to give the hours listened when I make my post, or only use pages if I were to be claiming a 500/750/1000 page book only? Whatever makes it easiest for tracking and consistency I will do. Thanks!

Linking to the mass market or paperback edition of an audiobook (using the add book/author link above the comment box) is the most helpful as far as verifying tasks goes. That allows me to clink on the link to make sure the book is more than 100 pages, fits the task, etc. Hours listened don't really help us that much.
Also, when claiming Big Book tickets, make sure to not only list the number of pages, but also specifically state you'd like to claim a Big Book ticket (not everyone wants to be considered for task creation. If you do, you need to let us know. Same with GR authors...).

And we'll see how it goes on the Big Book books. I might be interested in it and finally try to clear Gone with the Wind off my TBR shelf *laugh*

If I listen to a audiobook in German (it's Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows), I suppose I'll look at the German paperback edition for page count? So in my example I'd link to Harry Potter, Band 7: Harry Potter und die Heiligtümer des Todes, which is the only German paperback edition I found in my quick search just now.

That would be a good way to handle that, Isabell. Thanks!

Thanks. I'll post my audiobooks in that way then.

My question is when the task requires a certain word in the title/author's name, should I translate the word and make it fit in the edition I'm using (ie French language) or can I use the word in English, choose a book in English and then read the translated version. Sometimes the title's translation is not a perfect match so the word might not be present in the French version.
I hope this is clear. Thank you in advance!

Here's a explanation from the rules
3. Books in languages other than English may be used. Please provide information on the book and/or title to your English speaking moderators so they can understand how the books fit the tasks. Any task requiring a specific title (number of letters, number of words, specific word in title, etc.) should apply to the title that you use.
Desiree had a question about a specific title in post 12 of 5.5 I'm Tellin' that explains it a little more.
In general, the book you use must fit- so if you read a book in French, then the title in French must fit.
