Diane U (djuseless) Okay, as we have been discussing for the past few days, we are starting a Christian fiction group read with this group also.

I used the list of categories from the Theme thread and using Random.org, it selected:

#3 - Mystery/Suspense

Rules:
1. Nominations are open until the 14th of the month. Diane will let us know which book has "won" on the 15th.
2. Books must be Christian fiction, or "clean" fiction to be eligible for this read.
3. Books are chosen using Random.org to make it completely fair.
3. One nomination per person.

Nominations so far:

1. The Lightkeeper's Daughter by Colleen Coble (Barbara)
2. The Negotiator by Dee Henderson (Diane)
3. The Lord Is My Shepherd by Debbie Viguié (Camille)
4. Danger at the Door by Michelle Sutton (Lorie)
5. The Red Siren by M.L. Tyndall (Abbie)
6. Running for Cover (Steeple Hill Love Inspired Suspense) by Shirlee McCoy (Kristy)
7. Invisible: A Novel by Lorena McCourtney (Rachel)

How about The Lightkeeper's Daughter by Colleen Coble? As a plus, she's a goodreads author!

message 3: by Diane U (last edited Mar 04, 2011 09:59AM) (new)

Diane U (djuseless) Good suggestion Barbara.

message 4: by Diane U (new)

Diane U (djuseless) I am going to nominate:

The Negotiator by Dee Henderson

message 5: by Camille (new)

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments Well, I was going to nominate a book by Colleen Coble or Dee Henderson, but since we already have those authors I will branch out.

I nominate: The Lord Is My Shepherd by Debbie Viguié

It looks really interesting to me, and it definitely fits our requirements this month! :)

I'm nominating Danger at the Door by Michelle Sutton. I've been wanting to read her books for a long time.

message 7: by Diane U (new)

Diane U (djuseless) Oh, that one does sound good Camille. It was a kindle freebie months ago so I own it!

That was an Amazon Kindle freebie not long ago. I think I have it on my Kindle.

message 9: by Camille (new)

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments It was! So hopefully most of us nabbed it as a freebie! :) It'll be a good read whether we read it next month or on our own time. :)

I think we posted at the same time Diane lol

And Camille, its Easter themed at least that's what I got from the summary. Great pick!

message 12: by Camille (new)

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments I think I'll read it next month whether it is picked or not. Why not read it anyway if it's not picked along with our 2 group reads? :)

message 13: by Diane U (new)

Diane U (djuseless) That one sounds good too Lorie!

message 14: by Kristy (last edited Mar 04, 2011 11:41AM) (new)

Kristy (riverunbroken) | 250 comments Can we pick Love Inspired Suspense or is that only if we have picked the theme Love Inspired Suspense? Not sure if it can count as two categories. I don't know which book to pick.

message 16: by Abbie (new)

Abbie (weatherlover1) | 240 comments I don't see why we can't cross nominate. I say go for the love inspired suspense they count towards two of our themes which I think is fine. So does the one I picked.

message 17: by Camille (new)

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments I think most of our books will cross into two categories, so I think as long as it fits the requisite category it doesn't matter if it spills over into another category too. :)

message 18: by Diane U (new)

Diane U (djuseless) Kristy, go right ahead!

I'm loving all these nominations as this is a new area for me and seeing these authors is really helping me. I have not even read one of these books.

message 20: by Kristy (new)

Kristy (riverunbroken) | 250 comments Okay, how about Running for Cover by Shirley McCoy, book 1 of the Heroes for Hire. I really don't know which one to pick, so I picked one that was a 1st in a series.

message 21: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) I nominate Invisible by Lorena McCourtney. It's currently a Kindle freebie on the UK site, hopefully you guys have it too?

It's free in the US too, I just got it on my Kindle.

message 23: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Yay! It's been free for well over a month, quite unusual, I thought?

message 24: by Diane U (new)

Diane U (djuseless) I will be drawing the winner a week from today. If you have not nominated a book yet, please do so soon!

message 25: by Diane U (new)

Diane U (djuseless) Today is the last day for nominations!

message 26: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) I'm excited to see which one gets picked! Lots of very different suggestions :)

message 27: by Diane U (new)

Diane U (djuseless) Okay, it's time to pick the first Christian group read for April 2011. Using random.org, the book that was selected is #5.

We will be reading The Red Siren by M.L. Tyndall.

That is too weird that Abbie's books were selected for both reads. I could not have planned it if I tried.

Thanks to everyone for nominating books for our new group read!!!

message 28: by Abbie (new)

Abbie (weatherlover1) | 240 comments Cool!! I can't wait I really want to read this one after reading the 2nd one in the series!!

message 29: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Haha, go Abbie! This book does sound interesting, and I do enjoy cross-over novels. A Historical/romance/mystery will be nice for April :)

message 30: by Camille (new)

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments Good month for Abbie!

message 31: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) I just ordered my copy from Amazon - looking forward to reading about a lady pirate!

message 32: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) It's nearly April! Who is joining in with the non-Amish book group next month? Other than Abbie, of course :)

message 33: by Camille (new)

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments I am! :)

message 34: by Diane U (new)

Diane U (djuseless) Me too!

message 35: by Lorie (new)

Lorie | 1324 comments Mod
I need to go get it from my library. They have two copies and I'm trying not to spend any money on books this month.

message 36: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Exciting! I probably won't start the book til mid April, I have so many books I need to get started on - April is going to be hectic!

message 37: by Camille (new)

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments I agree Rachel, April will be hectic, especially as my finals are all early May, so April is "AAHHHH PREPARE FOR FINALS" Month. I requested The Outsider from my local library by they do not have The Red Siren, so I need to get that book another way.

message 38: by Abbie (new)

Abbie (weatherlover1) | 240 comments I read my tale off the last 2 weeks trying to get through some of my review books so I can take a break and read my group read books the first few weeks of April!

I'm sorry but I will not be joining you. I'm going to use the time to read some of my to-read items.

message 40: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Same, Camille, my finals are mid-May. But they finish on the 20th and I don't move out until the 31st so I'll have nothing to do but read and pack! I still have coursework to complete in April so I'm trying not to think about exams yet :P

No problem, Barbara - good luck with your reading!
