I've noticed that under the MobileRead's 100 books in 2011 topic there are several individual threads, titled for instance: Patricia's Challenge. Is this just a place where we can start our own thread for our challenge and then enter all the books we've read, along with what we thought of them? I guess this is just a preference, we can do this or not?

Yep! We've all got our own thread to enter the books we've read and out thoughts on it. I'm not sure about everyone but a few of us (including me) try to look at updates to other's threads to see what books they're reading.
