Candiss (tantara) | 1207 comments Welcome to April everyone,

It’s a brand new month, so we have two new books of the month to discuss. For April, you selected:

April Fantasy: Black Sun Rising: The Coldfire Trilogy #1 by C.S. Friedman
April Science Fiction: Lord of Light by Roger Zelazny

There are a couple of starter topics up for each book, but please feel to start more. Unless someone else wishes to do so, I’ll be leading the discussion for Lord of Light. If anyone would like to step forward to lead the discussion for Black Sun Rising, please let us know!

We also have our schedule set for the next couple of months:

May Fantasy: The Wise Man's Fear by Patrick Rothfuss
May SF: When Gravity Fails by George Alec Effinger

June Fantasy: The Magicians by Lev Grossman
June SF: In the Garden of Iden by Kage Baker

(Please note that May's fantasy selection The Wise Man's Fear is the direct sequel to this last month's Book of the Month, The Name of the Wind. The discussion for the first book is still alive here. The second book in the series is very new, so if you are a library reader, you might want to get on the hold list asap!)

In other news, our ongoing discussion of the WARS OF LIGHT AND SHADOW series by Janny Wurts is still going strong. We're nearing the finale of the series, and the discussion of Stormed Fortress is picking up steam. All the discussion threads for previous books in the series are still open, and Janny is still monitoring them, so if you haven't joined us yet, it's not too late to pick up the first books in the series and discuss them with us and the author!

In our Short Story Discussion folder, we're continuing the project we began last month: we're be reading the stories that are nominated for a Nebula Award this year. You can find the details here. Please take a look and join us to discover some great SF/F short stories.

And that's it for now. Enjoy and... get reading!
