Of course, it would take a lot more work that could be done after the folders are cleaned up, but I'm wondering if it would be a good idea to have an "ORPHANED" or similar named folder for those requests that are still unsolved after one year and have not been bumped.

What do members think about that?

I'm running into many requests have have had no activity for months and I'll bet that many of the posters have forgotten they ever posted or don't know how to view their old posts. For now, they're going in the UNSOLVED or POSSIBLY SOLVED folders.

I personally prefer to keep them in the unsolved folder. I know when I joined, I went back and read all the unsolved posts back to the beginning to see if I knew any of them. If they're moved to another folder, new members might not see the or realize they're there. Or realize they still need solving I guess.

Why exactly do we keep the solved books in the solved topic? Cause then it like over flows the solved folder and if its solved there's no need to keep the topic

Folders don't overflow. And someone else might find it helpful or interesting to look at old solved threads.

I did what Angel did. *And* I solved one. Sixteen months old! The person who requested it was very pleased.

So I say keep them in the Unsolved folder. I wouldn't have bothered with another folder. For example, I still haven't looked at the Possibly Solved folder.

That's great Leela4! Yes, I know that it's not unusual for books to be found long after the first query.

Question: I seem to have lost the post I created a (few?) months back. Is there a method available to search for it, or much I go through each category until I find what I am looking for?

Rivka is right. Mike, if you go to the group's home page and click on members and find yourself, if you click on where is says 16 comments, you'll see all your messages in the group. This is true for every Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ group.

You can also just click on your name above any post.

is there a way to move anything that hasnt been commented on in ayear into an orphaned folder? it would make no sense to orphan somthing even if it was posted a year ago if somone had commented on it.

I have made a "query abandoned by poster" folder.

I'm definitely willing to move threads to that folder, but since usually I read only new posts, I'd appreciate it if members post in those threads as they see them, alerting me/the group to its status. When I see them, I'll move them.

I think a year with no activity is a reasonable amount of time.

Are there any objections? Or, does anyone think it should be 18 or 24 months?

First of all, i can't find the "query abadoned by poster folder". is there a special spot for it?

Also, i'm a little confused on the status update. In the unsolved folder, i found out you can sort by last activity,So I was going to "flag" all of the orphan posts. but i got confused. are we only allowed to flag our own posts? if not, how should we go about flagging somone else's post? My idea would to just comment "orphan" but i'm just a little unsure.

Flagging does not make sense for this group for this type of thing. Flagging only alerts the Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ staff that something is wrong with the post: spoilers, attacking another member, spam, etc.

If you start a new post and use the drop down menu folder, you'll see the query abandoned by poster folder in the list of folders.

Folders drop off the home page if there is no recent activity.

Any member can post in a thread to alert to an "abandoned" status of a query. I am wiling to move threads.

But my preference is to just leave them in unsolved. They don't bother me. If there has been no recent activity, they will fall to the bottom of that folder. Obviously, if it's been years and members are sure a book has been found but the original poster has not come back to verify that, I'll wiling to move the thread.

I would also prefer to leave them in unsolved. I still go back and read older posts just in case anything new I've read turns out to be one of the forgotten books.

If posts do need to be moved, I would vote for as long a time as possible, maybe 2 years?

Valerie and All, Yes, new members are joining all the time, and they might be able to solve old book searches. And, even if the original poster forgets to check back, other members might be happy to find certain books too.

I think the time to use the abandoned folder is if members here are sure the book has been found but the original poster is MIA. Then, I might shelve the book and move the thread.

I agree with Lisa, just to move them to the abandoned folder if someone is sure they found the right book.

Leaving unsolved ones in the unsolved folder doesn't bother me, and when I joined I looked through all of them, and it actually helped me remember books of my own.
