The setting of the story is taken place in Alaska around Fairbanks. The main character of the story is Jim Gallien who is headed to Anchorage. On his way to Anchorage he picks up a teenager about the age of nineteen, named Alex. This young boy was headed to the edge of of Denali national park where he would live of the the land for a few months. During the story so far they are talking about the Alex and why he wants to live there. So far the primary conflict of the story is that Jim is trying to convince Alex not to live in the wild because it would be really hard for a young boy to live like that being unprepared and not having all the necessary equipment. But the boy doesn't care he says that there is nothing that he can't manage. This books seems really interesting it really got my attention on how Alex is brave enough to live in the wild on his own with the help of nobody.
