Our first larger-scale buddy-read-that-has-turned-into-a-book-club starts with Every Other Day!! Reading and discussion starts on November 1 (don't peek early!). We currently have four members scheduled, let us know if anybody else wants to participate! Reviewers (or rather bloggers) can request a free copy from netGalley if they don't have one already :) Let the discussions begin! :D

Heidi (heidirainydayramblings) Awesome thanks for the thread!

Veronica Morfi (vmorfi) | 464 comments I have a question, since it's my first time doing a buddy read I don't really know how it works, so how do we read it or discuss it? We read until a specific chapter or everyone reads at their own pace and we discuss specific chapters? I don't know if I make sense...:P

Totally making sense, Veronica! To be honest, this is my first be too and I was wondering the same thing! I don't want to make someone read a chapter a day or something-that seems so restricted an I don't think I could follow that. I can think of two options of the top of my head:
We dIvide the book into four parts and like the first week, you can't discuss anything after the first part (you can read ahead but just so you don't ruIn it for anybody else).

Another idea is at the top of the comment you say how far you've read (or what chapter you're talking about so people who haven't gotten there yet can skip the comment.

OR I could make four discussions: part 1 part two, etc but that might get complicated.

Open to suggestions!

Veronica Morfi (vmorfi) | 464 comments I don't know which one is better. It seems to me that if you only talk about one part each week it would be dragging it too much. Cause I'll propably make a week to read it and then I won't remember everything so good as when I read it. But making four discussions would make it even more complicate. On the other hand saying in the beggining of a comment where you are at the book won't really stop me from reading the comment, I'm very curious, and the ones who don't read the comment might lose something of the conversation.

I only found bad things about everything...Maybe someone has a better idea, especially someone who has done this before...

Becca (BeccaHandley) | 62 comments Was cking out to see if I should join this read or wait till dec read. As I'm not a blogger & ebook not out until end of dec...I'll wait =D Book looks great so enjoy!!! Catch up with you next buddy read...

Anagha Uppal | 511 comments Mod
Lol that's okay they're all valid points. We do need a suggestion you guys. What should we do?

Oh well Becca, glad you're joining the Dec read!

Heidi (heidirainydayramblings) I think that likely most of us will finish within a week ....then we can discuss. If we need to stretch it two before a big discussion we can. Before we finish the book we can have general comments and talk about the characters, the writing, the story and our conjectures for possible outcomes and then at the end we can see who is the closest to the real outcome.

yeah, I like it this way! :)

Great but we all have to refrain from spoilers until the agreed upon set date. I guess we can post where we are each day so if there is a big OMG moment and you are dying to talk you can message someone who is where you are in the book.

Yes! Sounds perfect! Thank you for clearing that up, Heidi, I don't know what we'd do without you!

Heidi (heidirainydayramblings) Anagha wrote: "Yes! Sounds perfect! Thank you for clearing that up, Heidi, I don't know what we'd do without you!"
Yeah we just need to decide on our timeframe.

Thank you, Veronica! :D

Heidi (heidirainydayramblings) Ok ladies buddy read starts tomorrow. I think the agreed time is 2 weeks which should be plenty of time let's plan say on Friday to post our thoughts on the characters and the plot so far and our predictions? Does that work for everyone?

Veronica Morfi (vmorfi) | 464 comments yeah, that's great! :) Can't wait to start reading!

Heidi (heidirainydayramblings) Becca wrote: "Was cking out to see if I should join this read or wait till dec read. As I'm not a blogger & ebook not out until end of dec...I'll wait =D Book looks great so enjoy!!! Catch up with you next bud..."

Becca you could still join us, You just have to join Netgalley and fill out a profile. This title is available for instant download. I thought you had to have a blog to get approved by netgalley for anything and that is not the case, If you are an active reviewer which you are here on GR they will consider you for titles. Granted some of the big books you probably can't get your hands on but there are plenty of other titles they will approve you for. Again this book in particular you just have to have an account and you can access it immediately I hope you will join us.

Mlpmom (Book Reviewer) (mlpmombookreviewer) | 191 comments Sorry guys I didn't see this thread for some reason!

I am fine with two weeks, that will give me time to finish the other book I started as well if I read them both over the two weeks.

I won't post any spoilers either.

We could do the first 5 chapters, then the next 5 and so on too to discuss? Or just wait and see how everyone is liking it and where they are on it.
Who knows, it may be a read everyone flies through because it is hard to put down or it could be the opposite, lol.

Either way, this afternoon when I am not so busy I am starting it!!

Mlpmom (Book Reviewer) (mlpmombookreviewer) | 191 comments Okay, I started it and I have to say, I am really enjoying her writing style.
A very unique story.

Michele at A Belle's Tales (chelesbells1) I love this story. I am sucked in!

Heidi (heidirainydayramblings) Veronica wrote: "I haven't started either, but I will just before I got to bed, meaning in a couple of hours! I'll tell you my thoughts tomorrow."

Same here

Veronica Morfi (vmorfi) | 464 comments Ok so I started last night I really enjoy it so far, Kali is really funny and I realized I have the same code for Multiple choice test! :P

Mlpmom (Book Reviewer) (mlpmombookreviewer) | 191 comments I had to make myself stop reading it last night! I almost finished it, lol. I have only about 20% more to go.
I am thinking it will be part of a series but I wasn't sure. Does anyone know for sure?

Michele at A Belle's Tales (chelesbells1) This story is exactly what I was in the mood for! Love the banter between the characters! Had to pry myself away from it last night, but I'm afraid I don't have much more to read before I'm finished. Hope everyone will enjoy it as much as I have. :D

Wow I am glad you ladies love it. Sigh I haven't started yet I had to finish another book last night. I intend to devour it today. Guess we might have to do another buddy read for Nov since we all will probably finish this by weeks end. Any suggestions?

Mlpmom (Book Reviewer) (mlpmombookreviewer) | 191 comments I finished it as well and it was awesome! Way better than I was hoping it would be and I definitely think there will be a sequel.

As for what to read next, I have no idea!
I have a couple of ARCs I still need to finish so I guess I will try to get those taken care of.
I am open to doing another buddy read though if anyone can think of what else to read.

Heidi (heidirainydayramblings) Well I know that Michele (Chelesbells) and I and another girl, Jeanette the Starry Eyed Reviewer were planning on starting Crossed. I just got my copy would anybody else be interested in that one? Perhaps if that one doesn't work someone can preruse Netgalley and find another instant download title that looks good? Jennifer Lynn Barnes also has a series Raised by Werewolves that we can look into or Elisandra awhile back wanted to buddy Ghost and the Goth....just a few ideas.

Veronica Morfi (vmorfi) | 464 comments OMG! You are such fast readers! :P I think it will take me the whole week to finish it, while reading a couple more books, but I'm glad to hear it's good! :) I love the writing style, and Kali is so funny! :)

@heid21: I haven't even read Matched yet, I have it sitting on my shelve for a few weeks now... and I have a billion books for review! :P So I can't...:(

Mlpmom (Book Reviewer) (mlpmombookreviewer) | 191 comments I haven't read Matched yet either.
But I would be interested in another book by Barnes, I think I have two others of hers in my TBR pile.

Cambria (cambria409) | 178 comments This book sounds great!
I read Matched a while ago.... it wasn't my favorite but the setting was beautiful and intriguing.

Heidi (heidirainydayramblings) I have the Raised by Werewolves books in my pile that would work for me.

A lot of people suggested reading indies, so if we get done early, maybe we could be thinking in that direction too?
