Marcus | 3 comments I have a lot of his stuff on my TBR list but haven't made it to any yet...soon

°¾±³Ù★ (xkittyxlzt) I'm currently working on reading Swan Song, and read Boy's Life awhile back, that one was my first, and I really liked it a lot! I also have The Night Boat and Usher's Passing on my TBR pile to get to :)

I think I've noted elsewhere that Swan Song compares nicely to SK's The Stand. It holds it's own against my fav author. McCammon is an outstanding author. I recommend most everything he's written.

Chad Lorion (goodreadscomcmichaellorion) Rereading McCammon's Stinger right now. Enjoying it just as much as I did six years ago when I first read it. He writes characters so well.

I have The Providence Rider coming up soon. Looking forward to it.

Travis (travistousant) | 137 comments So far the only book I've been rather disappointed with is what I believe was his debut Baal. Just didn't do it for me.

Hey, Travis, I had no idea you were a member of our group. Welcome! I didn't read Baal, so can't say anything about that. But McCammon has never disappointed me.

Travis (travistousant) | 137 comments I popped in the Something Wicked threads a while back and kind of read Boys Life only it took me about 3 or 4 months to read it and never really checked in. I try to poke my head in now and then just King recommends a pretty diverse bunch of books so they don't all appeal to me.

Marcus | 3 comments Just started the audiobook for Swan Song recently which is my first McCammon book. Loving it so far

This is my favorite McCammon book!

Chad Lorion (goodreadscomcmichaellorion) I've got Swan Song on top of my roll-top desk with my other all-time favorites, and it's on my long list of books to reread.

message 16: by Janice (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 801 comments Swan Song is great! Even my 15 yr old grandson enjoyed the audiobook.

message 17: by Sarah (new)

Sarah I STILL haven't read any McCammon books. I have loads on my wishlist though and I'm trying to resist putting any more on there until I've tried one and know what his style is like. I know you all rave about his books. Wishing they weren't all so long though. I think I will set myself a goal of reading one by the end of the year!

^ Ditto, What Amber said! ^

I hope you can fit in two! He has quite a range.

Sarah The three Amber mentions are the ones I am most interested in actually. Perhaps I'll have to pick one for a Halloween read!

Good choices!

message 21: by Sarah (new)

Sarah It was meant to be! Just checked Amazon today at Swan Song is only £1.49 which is a really big saving as all his books have been on there for around £6 each. So I snapped it up!

Many have compared Swan Song to King's The Stand. I'm positive you are going to love it! Even a friend of ours (Almeta and me), who normally doesn't read that genre, really enjoyed it.

message 24: by Roz (new)

Roz | 24 comments Loved Swan Song. I still have Speaks the Nightbird and Mystery Walk waiting in my Kindle.

message 25: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 137 comments Similar but The Stand is kind of a slow burn where Swan Song has some action to it

Yep, good way to describe the distinction between the two.

Plus The Stand is a result of a virus killing 90% of the population, and Swan Song is a result of nuclear warfare. Both explore the effects of a catastrophic event on the survivors.

Libby | 9 comments I am into the Speaks the Nightbird series and love it! Boy's Life is my all time favorite Robert McCammon book!

message 29: by Janice (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 801 comments I just finished the latest book in the Matthew Corbett series. This is one of my favourite series. I hope you enjoy Speaks the Nightbird, Manda.
